for today -
- the smell of lamb shank cooking in the SC
- taking my Godmother a home cooked lunch and - after she protested that she 'couldn't eat all that' - smiling to myself as I cleared the empty plate from the table
- anticipating my secondary glazing units being fitted this week
- stewing some apples for crumble - GM loves crumble and custard
- putting away my 'not-so-smalls' that have dried on the airer overnight and knowing that I didnt use any leccy!
... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

* The view from the station this morning. Looking out across the shunting area at 6:55am and seeing a brilliant purple sky with black buildings silhouetted - beautiful.
* Cross-stitching in my lunch hour again instead of going into town and spending money.
* Revising my mealplans until the end of the month and finding out my shopping list is less than ever (I go shopping in a bit so we'llsee how much it comes to)
* My mum feeding us steak pie tonight and not having any way to use it up (as everyone else here had pie tonight too) has given us the remainder for our tea tomorrow.
* Vowing to find some material to re-line my winter jacket as it is in tatters.Continually trying the Grocery Challenge. Gotta keep trying!0 -
Oh wow, I love this thread. As I have always said my life isn't very OS in comparison to many on here but it helps me realise the bits I do
Todays OS good bits for me
*My partner actually starting his own tea by switching the oven on, he realised he'd forgot later than I said to start it, dinner was a bit later than he'd requested it for and realised maybe I can be a little less than perfect sometimes!!!
*My DSs taking packed lunches and DS2 saying they were better than school dinners
*Fixing a pillow case instead of binning it (biggy for me as I hate sewing)
*Using vinegar to remove a nasty grease stain on DS2s top
*Having someone acknowledge how much effort I put into something I designed, not strictly using all OS methods but it makes you glow doesn't itOne day I might be more organised...........

I love this thread, makes me feel all warm
Todays nice OS things.
1. HM split pea soup with tomatoes, carrots, pasta in- DS loved it too, and there is enough for tomorrow, & reheating the HM local mince and carrots which I took from the freezer, to save too much cooking tonight!
2. HM butterfly cakes, which DH is demolishing and DS liked too!
3. Lovely fresh smelling real nappies on the airer.
4. Planning what HM cards I need to make for various events.
5. Meal planning for next week, using up freezer contents and only having to buy a couple of things.

Here are my five for today.
1. Preparing apples from a friend's tree for the freezer.
2. Putting thick knitted cardigan on to keep the heating off.
3. Usining 4oz of extremely rubber chicken to make rissoles for tea.
4. Putting chicken carcass in slow cooker to make stock.
5. Would have been making fairy cakes in the remoska but instead I made
cards for DH to sell at work to hopefully make a bit of cash so that I can
buy some more crafting materials. Not sure if that is OS or not?

Why do I always seem to be a day late?!
1. Watching my 5 year old grandson blow his candles out on his birthday cake which my daughter had made for him.
2. Having a lovely birthday tea which my OS daughter had got ready
3. Posting a parcel back cos I realised I didn't really want/need what I had ordered.
4.Feeding the birds outside my kitchen window.
5. Going to bed early and reading instead of watching the rubbish that's on TV
Hope you all have a lovely day xA family that eats together, stays together

Happy Birthday to your grandson, Mags50!
Anway, here are my 5 for today:
1 & 2 - My Side-to-Middling sheets drying in the garden (this counts as two, surely, as side-to-middling and as drying-on-the-line!
3 - Rereading this thread and being inspired to make my own lunch sandwich (instead of buying it outside as previously planned!)
4 - Checking the growing progress of my winter vegs in the planters
5 - Warming my hands around a cup of tea instead of putting the heating on.
Have a good day, all!
CaterinaFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Here's mine,
1. Not having to make tea tonight - as HM chilli was in the freezer (now defrosting)
2. Debating making dips for a party instead of buying them.
3. Knowing that I probably only need bread, milk and maybe fresh fruit and veg till payday (money is running out).
4. Knowing that with our winter blankets, draftproofing etc (thanks to the preparing for winter thread) - we have only switched the heating on twice so far - each time for only an hour. And we aren't cold.
5. Wondering whether to make cakes to take along to the party too... just coz I can make themworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Eating a portion of hm chilli and rice from the freezer for my lunch.
Packing up the homemade stuff into the kids lunchboxes.
Riding across the Somerset levels earlier today, it was beautiful and free.
Meeting a lovely old lady in the supermarket who told me that she always uses oats to pad food out and being surprised that I did as well!
Knowing I'm going to fill my new lock n lock boxes with all my storecupboard stuff in a bit!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000
