I Think She Has Munchausen's Syndrome?

  • If she's subsequently diagnosed with and treated for a mental health condition, it will be remembered by everybody around her - including your husband - that whilst she was genuinely unwell, you were the person calling her a self indulgent airhead and nutty. And quite possibly for criticising her appearance in comparison to yourself. After all, whatever happens, she is essentially working fulltime with a toddler to care for in the evenings and at night. You've said that you work part time and I'm guessing that you don't have children, as you haven't mentioned any? It's a hell of a lot easier to look pretty without babies, lack of sleep and a long week at work, never mind depression or a negative body image/issues with food exacerbated by the sort of comments about her size and appearance you give examples of.

It's difficult enough being the replacement for the Mum of the family, especially when your husband is old enough to be your father (even though you're middleaged) - but falling into the trap of sounding like the stereotypical younger second wife AND the mother in law AND any random who judges women on the basis of their appearance just isn't going to make for your long term happiness.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

She really does think she's Pippa! :rotfl:

Sadly I actually replied. I didn't spot the OPs name :o
  • If any of this story is actually true, then don't you think, rather than continuing to chastise the poor woman, you offer her some support!?

No doubt she can pick up on the vitriolic vibes, and the sneer down your nose attitude.

Personally I think you're jealous of the amount of attention your husband is giving her.

Well after reading the OP's other posts, who looks down on her daughter in law, can indeed lower her self to play with sex toys in poundland, is quite confused about her grandchild's age, loves to publically berate her step family.

If it smells like a troll and walks like a troll, gotta be a troll.

Seriously what soaps are you getting all this trash from

My hubby is a very honest faithful man. He would find someone like her totally repulsive. And yes he agrees with me that she is a very mixed up lady and needs to see a psychologist.

So honest and faithful, you are the second wife? What was the first wife like? Why did he leave her I wonder.
I agree. Troll. Or if true your not overly helpful when you think someone has problems. Dread to think what your parents/siblings/other family will have to cope with when they need help.

Oh very funny Spinkz. One when he does go round its only for very short periods of time and his son is mostly there. And he is 54 im 37 therefore 17 years his junior and I look about 30 and im a size 12 and well groomed. She is 32 but looks nearer mid 40s is over 20 stone (wears size 30 clothes) and always wears tracksuits (even to work) hair scraped back and never wears makeup. My hub thinks she looks common so he would not even go there. She is Vicky pollard type whereas im more pippa middleton if that helps.
I think is probably one of the most arrogant and condescending posts I've ever had the misfortune to read on MSE.

It's such a pity that - with your closeness in ages - you don't seem to have any empathy with your step-son's wife but just seem to enjoy looking down at her in such a sneering way.
  • You have to admit that Spinkz theory would explain the venom.

Actually, what fluttered across my mind was the thought that the OP actually fancied her husband's son - he is after all not that much younger than she is and she has said that she looks 7 years younger than she really is - and she was jealous of his partner.
