Hi All
Been absent for a bit.
Spent no cash this weekend apart from church collection which is good as last few weeks have been costly.
Mr T delivered yesterday so I will go and update gc for sept.
Have a good sunday.

When my father in law died our boys were 9 and 11, and they were very close to him. We let them decide. We went through in great detail exactly what would happen on the day, made sure that they understood that they would see the coffin that had grandads body in it and that people would be upset and crying. When they said yes we said they could change their minds, even on the day of the funeral and we had somewhere arranged for them to go if this happened.
I think it was the right decision and they coped really well, although there were a lot of tears. I think 7 is a bit young but you know your own kids better than anyone. Some people have strong views on this and I had someone say to me that my 9 year old shouldnt go. For me it felt right that he should have the chance to say goodbye like everyone else.
As for clothes ours wore school shoes, school trousers, a shirt and a dark jumper.0 -

[/STRIKE]Bob sorry to hear your lack of sleep and pains. I hope you get some more rest later on
My list today:
We're staying at home so a NSD
Go for a run shortly, only managed 1 last week, must aim for 3 this week
Do as much as we can to put garden 'away' for autumn - folks coming to help as it's hard to do the front with the girls.
Write shopping list for Thursday for weekend away, keep to a minimum but it'll stop us spending whilst away if we take enough with us. Will be a few treats in there to save the purse later on
Last of washing on 30 - dry outside
PAD to cc
Catch up with some diaries on here later.
Early night curled up with downtown :j
Enjoy your day everyone, will check back later:)
Just caught up on thread as folks have gone and girls are in bed. Really successful day, done all of my list except PAD which I'll do now. Front garden looks fab, took out more than we were planning - DH will take to tip, tomorrow, his car is already full and stacked up behind. He'll have a nice pine smell tomorrow. No air freshener required :rotfl:
Just relaxing before a crazy busy week at work, so will have an early night. Will try and catch up where I can this week. Have a good few days x0 -
Hi All
CCL - very sorry for your loss. It is never easy no matter how old the person who goes. Hope you find a way to decide about letting your children go or not.
Yorkshire - thank you for the fishing info. That's great. I'm glad your son has a lovely hobby. I used to go a long time ago with my dad from about age 9 I think. Agree the concentration thing is key and 6 is too young. They did this thing in our local park a while ago where children could do a hook a plastic fish type thing and learn about different river fish. We often look for tiddlers there too.
Ally - when did that exciting new line appear in your signature? An Australian adventure sounds great.
Katy - sorry to hear about your car. It's a huge pain.
BB - I think having big planning chats is a very useful tool in the money saving box. And as you say saves duplication over time.
Jono - Glad your day of gardening went well. Satisfying I'm sure.
LegoMum- sorry missed your question. Yes today was ok. The whole weekend has been quieter than I'd hoped considering I was working an extra 3 hours per day. But it was all still extra that I wouldn't have usually had if that makes sense. Glad the boys are enjoying Netflix so much. I am constantly amazed how much is on there.
Well I am home and pooped but I survived. Not a bad day at all. I am looking forward to Downton (how can it be the last series!)
Thanks for all the kind comments today, really appreciated.

Thanks for this Yorkshirelass - they have both been to a funeral already, although not by choice. When my mother in law died they were 5 and 1 and we had to go 300 miles to arrange the funeral. I had nowhere to leave them, and nobody to leave them with so they had to go. It will only be the second time I have been to a funeral...Not giving up

On Sunday. We're saving for our first foreign holiday in four years. We both have relatives there...and are mulling over the idea of emigrating.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0
