    Cheque for £121.93 received last week, very easy process - thank you for guiding us through it.

    (Now reading this thread am wondering whether I should also be looking in to pre-2005 for some more easy money!)

    Phoned AI yesterday, they told me that pre-2005 was with HSBC so I have logged a complaint with them - fingers crossed for a bit more unexpected money with minimal effort.

    Have to say, I do remember having Sentinel many years ago when I was new to the world of bank accounts and a bit nervy - but genuinely have no idea how I'd had it post-2005, certainly wouldn't have knowingly signed up to it.

  • Thanks to the advice given in several posts here, I rang AI scheme after receiving a cheque for a modest £77. Based on other amounts paid out, I thought this was a small amount for length of time I'd had cover.

    I explained to the AI helpline that I thought I had the card protection for longer and the chap I spoke to was really helpful. He confirmed that I took it out in 1995 with the Co-operative Bank and gave me all the details of amounts, dates and the correct phone number to call.

    It transpired that I had paid for the card protection for 3 years at a time, so only the payments for 2007 to 2010 were covered by the AI scheme resulting in the initial modest amount, but the rest was covered by the Co-operative.

    One quick call to the Co-operative Bank (who were equally helpful and also didn't ask me for any further proof) resulted in a further cheque for £230 arriving within a week.

    Well worth asking for! :j
  • Just want to say ' thank you'. I came back from holiday to find a cheque for £407 from the Scheme administrators. If I hadn't seen your article, I might have binned the original paperwork!

    Hi does anyone have the address on the pre-paid envelope.. Eeek I've mistakenly thrown it out!

    Scrap that... found it - in case anyone needs;

  • Hi, this is my first post and nobody else seems to have answered my question.
    If I claim through this scheme I understand my current cover will cease. Once any claim is made and successful is there anything that would preclude me from taking out another policy with Sentinel in the future should I wish to.
  • Can you tell me the best way to register my claim with Barclaycard? AI Scheme have advised me I had sentinel protection with Baclaycard from 1998 until 2007. Just not sure where to start.

    RESULT this week : following the AI cheque I received a couple of months ago for £68, I have now received another cheque for £268 from Lloyds Bank (being my bankers) for the Sentinel Card Protection Scheme during the period 1991-2005. This latter cheque was received without any further activity on my part beyond the original post-2005 compensation application. It came out of the blue !

    Thanks for the post. I wrote to lloyds the other week after getting my cheque from sentinel asking for the pre 2005 premiums, they phoned me and advised that the cheque would be sent out around 4 weeks after the sentinel cheque. The way they spoke did suggest that it may be automatic but was not sure if that was the case. Just waiting on my cheque to arrive now from Lloyds.
