  • I registered my 1997 to 2005 claim with Barclaycard on 10/09/15, they gave a claim reference and indicated a response within 56 days. Letter followed dated 16/09 confirming that they were investigating. Letter received dated 05/10 accepting claim and a refund of premiums issued.
Must congratulate Barclaycard on their attention and result. I did not expect such a response.

Pity A1 Scheme is so long winded as there appears to be no dispute that we were all missold. Obviously designed to deter claimants from proceeeding!
  • Received my claim cheque today, will now contact about pre 2005 years, thank you so much moneysavingexpert

I have now received compensation from both AI and Barclaycard. Both claims were sent early October. Both very straight forward. I was able to provide full payment dates and values to AI scheme. The Barclaycard was more difficult. I had gone backwards from 2005 and had records going back to 1996, however prior to that my statements were not available. (How poor am I!!). My initial phone call to Barclaycard was not very helpful and I gave a very low score to their customer service call. This was responded to by a more senior Call centre manager from "on shore". Having explained my request - Please provide me with the date I first took out Sentinel, she supplied the answer immediately. Using the website template letter I completed the letter and have today received the refund into my Bank. Well done MoneySavingExpert.

Cheque for £121.93 received last week, very easy process - thank you for guiding us through it.

(Now reading this thread am wondering whether I should also be looking in to pre-2005 for some more easy money!)

  • I'm sure I've had Sentinel at various points of time with my packaged account with RBS. I've sent them a complaint - fingers crossed
  • Hi all,
Having received a letter from AI saying I could claim, via my late mothers cover!!! As you would quess I was very dubious about it all. I phoned companies house to check that it was an legitimate company & they confirmed that it was. This happened earlier this year, so sent the form off not expecting anything more than £25 but a surprise came in the post last week a cheque for £497!!!!!! Bearing in mind that my poor mum past away nearly 5 years ago this was a total shock to me, I have spoken to people & they have never heard of being able to claim on deceased cover. Thank you AI & my mum bless you.
  • Thank you for this help - I'm like the others in the thread - worried that if I make a mistake I'll mess everything up. Cheers.

Both my parents and I both had Sentinel card protection for several years. We never claimed for anything just used it for the lost card cover. The issue is that the credit cards already covered us for fraudulent card use so we didn't need this with Sentinel, the reason for our claim against them. However I don't really understand the wording of the two templates. Which is the correct one in our circumstances? We have received the third letter which needs us to sign and state the reason for the claim.
  • I would urge anyone who receives the paperwork from Al to return it. My mother received this correspondence and binned it first time round because she assumed it was junk mail. To cut a long story short I spoke to Tesco and Al and within 2 weeks she has received 3 sums of money totalling over £500! She's not sure she ever paid that much in premiums but she has received two cheques from A1 and a bank transfer from Tesco.

Just stumbled across this thread following a link from the latest newsletter. And I'm so glad I did.

I have the claim forms sitting on my desk but having taken a first look I thought it was a lot of effort for £30 or so. Having seen the sums on offer and knowing how long I had the product then this is now a top priority for me.

Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences and the relevant phone numbers. The forms will be completed this weekend and Barclaycard will also be getting a call from me.....

    Jon
