  • If the police do not take minor crimes seriously, then they should not complain when people take the law into their own hands. I remember "zero tolerance" when the police really clamped down on minor issues, which resulted in all crime diminishing. I completely understand the OP's frustration. I suspect that offender will be offered a caution, if the police are happy with the evidence. This is admitting to the crime. I think the OP should then make a small claim to recover losses e.g. insurance excesses or premium increases.

The police only heard the recording but did not ask me to submit it or burn it.

That's good news that they heard it , it will escalate the importance of the job to whoever it is given to . But make sure you get the copy of the racial abuse recording to the officer in the case . Hopefully you have got the names of the officers involved and crime number ?

If this had been the other way around, you would probably have been charged long ago.

I am sure that would be the case. As instructed from the Police last night, I got a quote from FORD on the repairs costs. £3k!

3 grands worth of damage, bloody hell. She's not held back then. Really hope you can get this sorted, because it's out of order. The footage you showed was disgusting.

Right now, my feeling is if the police don't do anything, which I am not convinced they will, you might have to take matters into your own hands. That doesn't mean breaking the law.

Do you have any anonymous friends in the area who would pay her a visit, perhaps remind her that she a vehicle as well? Mind you, if she's driving an old Austin Maestro, she probably won't care.

I hate the thought of vigilante justice, but with the police unwilling to help the public any more, it seems more and more that this is the course of action people have to take. I don't condone it, but until there is a thorough re-think behind policing in this country, it might be the only course of action people have.

However, despite my feelings on the police, they've come round and they have heard your side and seen your footage, so they now have to go away and decide if they actually want to do anything about it. What little faith you have rests in their hands so I hope they pull through and do the right thing. Their attitude of "more important things to do" is very synonymous with policing nowadays. They have lots of more important things to do.... like covering up high profile scandals, of which there have been a few recently.

Thank you. I am getting desperate now. I wounder what the neighbourhood watch (of which the vandal is part of) will say should I contact them and inform them of the issue..

You really should get in touch with someone else at the neighbourhood watch and get them to see and discuss the video at the next meeting. Not saying it will help, but maybe some disapproval from her peers might help, or at the very least a sacking. Sounds like she's been causing a lot of trouble for everyone.

Are there enough of you to supervise her when she's out and about? Not following her, but standing around the cars to witness any further vandalism

This is what they are there for - I'd ask for a meeting with them.

Just joined twitter and posted these twitter.com/Rover005Unk/with_replies on the Barking/Dagenham Twitter account and sent an email to Barking & Dagenham Racial Equality Council and London Borough of Barking & Dagenham that explains the whole issue and concludes:
With this email, I aim to get your support on dealing with the issue as it has hit the boiling point where the police is powerless against her (even though we have 3 CCTV footages from the last 3 weeks and a recording where she tells me and my friend to "Go back where you came from") and I feel like you may be the right instance to deal with the issue.

Also, called the local neighbourhood watch team and informed them of her actions. They were as shock as the police was last night from our stories.
