Boo to the banks! And to the restaurant

I take it MB is matched betting? I've always wanted to do that as its free money, but really want someone who has already done it to walk me through it. I know I could probably give it a go on my own, but me being me, I will find some way of ballsing it up :rotfl:
    Total Mortgage OP £61,000
    Outstanding Mortgage £27,971
    Emergency Fund £62,100
I AM NOW MORTGAGE NEUTRAL!!!! <<Sep-20>>

Thanks! The restaurant was particularly annoying (I tend to assume banks will be especially stupid).

I learned the ropes through this page http://www.savethestudent.org/make-money/what-is-matched-betting.html which does walk you through step-by-step. Note: Paddy Power and Betfair have merged, so best not to sign up with both of them, I got my first gubbing (disqualification from future free bets) from Paddy Power this week, likely because I'm in Betfair's database. Smarkets charges a lower commission (2% instead of 5%) so is a better option anyway.

There's a lot more techniques that I don't do (accumulator bets, dutch 3-way, probably more that I don't even know about!), but so far I've made £277.10 (which includes this weekend's loss, so ideally more once the free bets come in). Even if you just do the signup offers it's still profit.

Happy to walk you through things via PM if you have questions. :)

:( sorry to hear you have been felled by unexpected gluten... hope you are feeling better today
  • Grrrr to banks and restaurants. Our business bank is Coop and they pay SO & DD at really random times so it is guesswork when money will be leaving the account, or ending up at suppliers. It's caused quite a bit of chasing around here and there, though luckily no charges. Hope you're feeling better now after the restaurant fiasco.

Thanks, all! Feeling better physically today, mentally I'm still dragging (10 minutes after doing it I'd forgotten that I'd fed the cats. Luckily it's obvious that their day's food is portioned out or not, so the female cat trying her usual stunt of "I'm so hungry, it's been ages since my last meal" didn't work. :p).

Logged into various banks and all the money is where it should be. Have OPed the £2.66 at last! ;) Current balance all the way down to £149,716.42.

Still waiting to hear back from HR about how my pay will work out this month and next - hoping that happens tomorrow so I can plan accordingly.

Had a phone interview last week which seemed to go well - waiting to get a test to perform this week and if that goes well I'll have an in-person interview. :)

The non-profit I was super excited about wanted me to interview on Good Friday. I was willing, but e-mailed them to confirm that they really would be in on a bank holiday...turns out not. :rotfl: Have finally gotten a new date, a week from Wednesday.

Not much else to report - hoping to crack on with one of my websites this week, will see how far I get!

lol my 2 cats always try this. 1 more than the other, but they make out they haven't been fed in weeks!

Great to see you mortgage balance decreasing so much. Glad the phone interview went well.

Our boy cat is very good about not begging (for food, anyway, cuddles is a different story!). The girl, though...to be fair to her, her previous people likely fed her constantly as she was 4kg overweight when we got her, so I'm sure she's convinced she's on starvation rations! She doesn't seem to grasp that DH and I can communicate to each other if one of us has fed the cats. :rotfl:

£44.48 from day one of cheltenham, making a profit of £35.77 thus far. Will wait to see how the rest of the week goes on and OP at the weekend.

Talked friends into filing for PPI and they got their cheque today - £1,158.98 :D Not quite the £4k we got, but still, nice to come home to. May have also gotten them into surveys as well.

Spent most of the day working on the test for the job interview, it's not quite as nice as I'd like but given the time constraints I'm pleased with it. Will see what feedback it gets...would be nice to have two interviews next week and maybe have something settled during/soon after our holiday.

Got DH to agree to cancel his contact lens agreement with B00ts - it was a bit silly as he didn't wear them in the summer due to allergies, and he only wears them for a few hours at work anyway. Sent him the MSE article on finding cheap contact lenses so we can do that if he wants to keep up with them. For some reason they refunded us two months' worth of payments, so that's an extra £43. :money:

Tacked on another 99p for not buying a kindle book (it's available at the library :)), so the mortgage is down to £149,672.43 :)

£10 from swagbucks, and £10.14 out of our allowances for buying games in USD, both off to the mortgage. :)

Got a necklace in today's am@zon deals (thanks MSE post!) that will be a great gift for my mom. Also get £1 credit for not being in a rush to get it.

Finally went for a run after taking the weekend off - felt good, and I went 0.27mi farther than last run. Only one more run and I'm done with my training program for 5k, though I'm still not quite up to that distance. Race is in two months, so I have plenty of time to get there.

Another £11.13 from MB today, which included some losses which will turn into free bets later. :) Slowing down a bit for the rest of the week, but should be able to add ~£50 on to that by Friday.

Got feedback on the test I did yesterday - they were quite pleased with it and want me in tomorrow to interview. :j If all goes well I should have an offer by the end of the week! Still debating the non-profit interview next week - think I'd still like to go to that even if I have an offer in hand, but if tomorrow is amazing I might change my mind. (Not to jinx anything but I've already scouted potential gyms/running routes near their office, and realised we can save 45% on underground fare ;))
