Congrats on handing in your notice, fantastic news that you can job hunt whilst still being paid.
Good luck with the interview(s)!0 -
So I go on holiday for a week and all this happens!! Well done on taking the brave step to resign, and very best of luck with the interview - sounds like exciting times ahead.

Thanks all!
HR met with me this morning and essentially told me to go home.I stayed until about 4, mainly because I was waiting on the yarn I ordered on Sunday to arrive. Did manage to get some things finished up, but rather glad to leave a thorny bit of code with a coworker.
(In my defence, he helped create the tricky code.)
I'm a bit surprised - I've heard of gardening leave before, but never heard it applied to software developers before. Generally it's "milk every last drop out of you before you leave" mantra. Still, I'm happy to get paid to relax/job hunt/start a new job/whatever.
Have already shifted the cat's checkup from Saturday to Thursday as it should be less crazy then. Otherwise I'm hoping to start a new coding project tomorrow - not sure if it'll go anywhere but it'll be fun to get up and running, at least.
Anyone have brilliant ideas for website/applications? I have the time.0 -
So you've finished work already! Could be various reasons from paranoid employer about potential damage by working notice to sensing keenness to leave. Whichever way, paid notice is nice
I'd love to see an amortisation schedule website and an app... just imagine being able to tap into your phone an OP and have instant updated figures infront of you
And doesn't seem to be a Sterling website either that does it all.

Ah gardening leave - that's the dream! Lucky you
Thanks! I was all set to go job hunting and double up on the money, but DH pointed out that officially I'm still employed during my gardening leave, so can't really start a new job quite yet.Like I said, it's a new concept to me in my career!
I'm trying to brainstorm ideas for websites that I could build during this time off that might make passive income. So far I've got two ideas - one might make a bit of money if it gets traction, one likely wouldn't make any money at all but might be fun to do (incorporating your request, Ali!). We'll see - ideally once we're MF I'd like to work for myself anyway, so it'd be great if I could get something up and running now so that by 2020 it's ticking along smoothly and I can just transition into that.0 -
A website containing all the best calculators, a pension calculator that lets you tell it how much you want now, pro rata's it forward to when you retire then back tracks to how much you need to save a month factoring in interest rates, a calculator that tells you how much actual interest you have saved by OP'ing.

Thanks, Sue, I'd like to incorporate those sorts of things in my "fun to do" website.
Can't see it making any income, though - know I wouldn't pay to use a site like that. :rotfl: Perhaps ad revenue, though, if it gets visitors.0
