FD payments all sorted so the mortgage balance is "official". :)

DH didn't enter his travel costs in for October so that pot was underfunded. Fixed that for October and going forward, but will have to restrain myself from any more mortgage OPs this month (and possibly next) in order to make up the difference. Would really like to find ~£94 by the end of the year to be able to get into the £163s by the end of the year. We'll see - depending on how much MIL contributes for our doors next month (I'd like 50%, she may want 100% but I'd feel guilty about that) we could have some wiggle room. :)

We've already bought the doors, actually. Got them (on sale, I think) last spring from H0mebase/B$Q.

Carpenter has quoted £540 to install them (9 doors total). MIL wants us to have (nice) doors - when she visited last Christmas we were mid-DIY so didn't actually have a door put on the bathroom at the time, so I think she's traumatised from that. I will note we did have two doors IN the bathroom, they just weren't being used to block the bathroom doorway. :rotfl: (In reality she and BIL/SIL bought us dinnerware as a belated wedding gift and she thinks we picked too MSE-y and would like to give us something else. Hence contributing to the door project.)
  • Maybe I should try that trick and stop my MIL visiting!!!

Haha! I felt kind of bad, but she seemed ok with it (other than wondering why we had so many doors floating around the house but not in doorways).
  • £13.13 interest from T$B last month. :) Not bad given that we opened the accounts midway through the month and then transferred most of the money out of one to cover the solar panel install. (Hoping to replace that this month!)
  • Stupid banks and their lack of communication/awareness of time.

We've been transitioning away from S@ntander in prep for their fees going up in January. As I bought a season ticket last month the credit card had quite a high balance - my October statement said it would be due November 4.

I had a reminder for myself to make sure/transfer money around so that the money is all set today and ready for tomorrow. Yet when I log in they've already taken it out of my current account! It doesn't appear in my credit card transactions so I guess they're just stealing the money for a day and then it'll apply tomorrow.

Good news is that I still had £45 in the account even with them taking things out early, but what the hell... Going to have to phone up and complain. Given that the current account and the credit card are on the same account with the same bank, I expect you to take the payment on the day it's due (not the day before) and I expect it to appear immediately so it doesn't look like you've just stolen my money.

Yet more reason to ditch this bank...
  • Not good! Where are you moving to?

Not sure yet - we have a joint Ll0yds account that we haven't been using so we may move to that. Not sure though as you need £4-5k to earn the 4% interest, so that would require some thinking/money shuffling.

Hoping to switch next month so will have to investigate more and see if anything else looks better.

Won £5 on Tengi last week so that cleared in the account today. :)

Also got to payout on Ips0s so £10 AGC claimed.

Almost to the point budget-wise where I'll feel safe making mortgage OPs again - not sure if we'll get there this month but should do next month. :j
