It is such a vicious circle because you lay there overthinking and worrying that you are not going to get to sleep! Went through this myself.
I found the breathing exercises extremely useful and the relaxation technique. I swear concentrating on these just frees your mind and off you go!
Good luck!0 -

Have you tried it?
Yes, I have been reading for a couple of hours in bed. Hasn't helped I am afraid. My husband was convinced listening to a talking book would do it, they send him off a treat, but no good for me.Sell £1500

Hi,BBC World Service (Radio 4 turns into this after midnight) - works a treat for us.
I like this also, my wee radio is on from going to bed until I get up in morning.
Some interesting topics and discussions in the wee sma' oors.
Only thing is, I could be listening to something interesting about 3/4 in the morning, and fall asleep missing the end.
Here's a good tip to help you get to sleep,
If you lie on the edge of the bed, you'll soon drop off. :rotfl:0 -

I've tried Book at Bedtime but that didn't work, I usually turn things off before midnight because of disturbing DH and I can't get comfortable with headphones. I fear I might be a lost cause.Sell £1500
