  • Michelle, mmm we sound very grown up and organised but not sure its the truth!!!

And LB29 I can sympathise. Once you start to get on top of it it's easier. The secret is about little and often though. One thing I do is to swish the bathroom with a cleaning wipe every morning. It takes seconds and means that the bathroom only needs a proper clean once a week. I did away with my ironing basket. Washing comes in off the line, gets a quick tumble if it needs it, folded and put away. If I wash up, I dry up there and then.

Sometimes it helps to say, right I am having 30 minutes/1 hour or whatever and time yourself.

My house is far from perfect but much much better than when I first came on here!

Oh and if you need to declutter - do it. I am a big Kon-Mari fan (there is a thread), and this really helped me.

So paid stuff for me this morning, dog blankets are in washer, will get them out before I go. Hoping to take some stuff from outside to the tip this afternoon but will squeeze in some LR cleaning too.

Have a good Monday everyone x

Ionafan - think somebody has been at your email account. You might want to warn anybody who is not pc savvy.

Cleaned the inside of the kitchen, DR and hall windows.

    Sorting emails now.

Morning all  and welcome to newbies.
Hope you're feeling OK today, CY :grouphug:
Glad your weekend was such a success, FBO :T
Just tried to look at 'The Spoon Theory' link on 1st post but it seems to be showing chinese (?) jeans so not sure what that's all about!

You will find the page here - the gremlins have got into the first post on this thread and there is a quote " missing after (square bracket)URL= in the link. I can see it but am unable to change it on the original post.

Thank you Natty for the new list. We have been out a lot this weekend, so the house stayed clean and tidy :rotfl:

DS1 rang at 7.04 this morning. DGD1 has apparently got slapped cheek syndrome. She had already passed the contagious stage before they noticed, but I have to be on call today in case the school wants her to go home, so the working day that I had planned may not materialise.

On Saturday morning I managed to complete the set of boxes that I was working on, and yesterday we took one of everything that was ready to my colleague, for her to store :D I have cleared the study bedroom to the point where I can see the floor, even if all the other surfaces are still covered in piles of papers - but they're (sort-of) organised ;) I will check through the last remaining set of boxes today and see what has to be done, and I will do my darndest to get them finished this week, now that DD does not need me until next week.

Other than that, I am aiming to
    - S&S kitchen
    - S&S bathroom
    - do WM x2 or 3
    - hand-wash cardigan
    - wipe and water plants
    - check finances
    - make some phonecalls and send some emails re arrangements for next weekend
    - book theatre tickets
    - print out Old Wives' programme, ready for delivery
    - type up the Minutes of the meeting we had yesterday
    - fill in and post back a form that I've received re AI Scheme as advised by MSE Martin:money:

Hope everyone has a good day. (((Hugs))), spoons and sticks all round, as needed. Catch up later x

Hello! I'm in - been down South to visit rellies this weekend and house looked like a tip when we returned. Last minute packing and housework avoidance shows :(

Thanks for last week's thread - started well, then tripped on every hurdle after that. I have a hundred loads of washing to do and Mont d'iron is now leaning precariously, so will have to be tackled. Very tired though and Tiny is a grotbag this morning, so not a fun day ahead...

Thanks to Natty for this week's thread and to Bossy for last week's thread.

Apologies I disappeared last week but parents were visiting Thursday to Sunday and Thursday was a bit of a disaster - we had a power cut overnight so didn't have time to do all my jobs first thing before taking the cats to the vets (thankfully the only part of the day that went well - other than a lot of meowing on the walk down the street, they behaved themselves impeccably). Then I was on my last job before my parents arrived - cleaning the litter trays - took the bag of old litter out to the bin, the door shut behind me and I was locked out with no phone or money or anything! Had to wait until my parents arrived to ring husband and get him to come home early.

Thankfully the rest of the weekend went OK - we went out for dinner on Friday, met up with my auntie and uncle for a nice lunch on Saturday and spent the rest of the weekend finishing off a few bits of DIY and building furniture. Frustratingly Ikea only brought us two-thirds of the wardrobe we ordered so it puts my plan to sort out the shed on hold, but at least it's getting there...

I have a day off from paid stuff today so am going to try and use it to get things done round the house. Here goes:

    Morning flyers.

I've done the dailies this morning and the crossed off things from the list. Fortunately DH is here today so could help move the furniture. Paid stuff next.

Cushion covers are in machine now. Throws have been thrown, they're past their best. No winter curtains here, or rather the winter lined curtains are up all year.

    Have a great day everyone.
Spend less now, work less later.
  • Morning everyone, so another week begins! The weekends are never long enough! Thanks for last week's list Bossy, and thanks for the new list Natty :T

FB - I was fearing for your safety when I read your post...until I read that it was the downstairs toilet! I thought you had nearly fell through a ceiling!

LB29 - welcome back! I work full time and although I don't have any munchkins, I still seem to never have time to do anything! I'll be honest and say that I'm the same, the week starts off well and then tapers off! I seem to get most stuff done at the weekend. I find this thread is most useful as a motivator and it's nice to hear that its 'ok' if stuff doesn't get done :p, there's always next week! As long as you're not tripping over stuff and it's (relatively) hygienic I'd say you were doing fine! I'd agree with Dusty and Yorkie though, little and often makes it less of a chore to deal with.

    So...on with the list!

Monday Mayhem - Living Room, Hall and Stairs
    Level 1

Vacuum the hall and stairs (did the LR at the weekend)
    Level 2
    Dusting, even if around everything
Remove clutter making sure stairs especially are safe
Clean windows and all glass.. including the tv screen
Clear the mantel and only put back the items which are supposed to be there.. and that doesn't include letters, keys or other treasure!
    Level Three
    Water (all) plants
Put all your hotspots in one pile and work your way through it..
    Change the bed

    Extra Mission:
    • Have a bit of a tidy in the cupboard under the stairs.:eek::eek:

Hugs and spoons as required folks xxx

Thanks for this weeks thread Natty :D I'm in after a fashion.

I have work today. My delivery has been and I now I need to get on with sorting stuff. I only popped on here as I couldn't get on last night and wanted to make sure I had this weeks thread bookmarked.

I'm going to go strip my bed, throw a wash load on which will have to go in the TD as its overcast & threatening rain all day, and get stuck in. I have a feeling it's going to be one of those days so I'm determined to turn it around and make things good. ;)
