Welcome to the weekly Flylady thread. If you need help organising your week or getting motivated when it comes to housework then come and join us.
Thank you Bossy for last week's thread
Every room comes back around next week so please don’t stress about catching up
These lists are only suggestions and not a must do list; you are more than welcome to post and follow your own lists.
Also adding a declutter mission each day will help to gradually clear the clutter and make flying easier.
A few of the basics before we start the week
Hotspots are areas where if one thing gets put there, loads of other things follow!
Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc.
Night-time routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.
Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a bin bag and whiz around the house finding items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.
Swish and swipe/S&S means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis
HHE/HHC/HHI Half Hour exercise/challenge/ironing ... run around for 30 minutes to the Benny Hill music frantically cleaning exercising or ironing.. other music may be used if you prefer!

In for another week!

Thanks Bossy for last week and Natty for the new thread. I'm in. Just what I need too. Once I've got rid of the MIL tomorrow morning I will crack on and embed the new layout in the living room, and tidy the dining room table which has seen a lot of use this weekend.
Miraculously I already have a handyman booked to do some odd jobs tomorrow afternoon. Just as well, as a gaping hole has appeared in the downstairs toilet. Luckily we had the laminate well glued or I'd have disappeared and probably broken something. The nails on one of the botched joists have rusted through! DH swore he'd repair it this morning. Unsurprisingly it hasn't happened as he's been working. Actually I'm happy about this as the work done is more valuable.
Anyway,

Learning so much on this thread. Had never heard of winter curtains!! Just googled them!! Do many people have them?
It all seems very organised and grown up of you all!!!!0 -
Can I be in please? I started with you all a few weeks ago, I managed 2 days then it all tapered off. How does everyone else cope when they work? By the time I've made dinner, washed up and sorted out the children it so late I often struggle to get everything done. The evenings that I managed the full list I wasn't finished until after 9pm. I'm not sure if I should start trying to get essentials done before work by getting up earlier :-/.November GC-£128.30/£200

Lb29 - I know how you feel! I often work late, and have to bring work home. I try to do the basics in each room, more if I have the time. Then run though as much as I can at the weekend. After a few weeks the house really does improve and it gets much easier.
If you can declutter a drawer or cupboard once a week and keep it that way it's a massive help.
Good luck.0 -
Thanks for the new thread Natty, and Bossy for last week's.
Struggled to sleep so I've decided to get up and potter, sew a few name tags on and maybe do a little bit of governing stuff before the paid stuff or I may have a little snooze on the kitchen sofa with the ginger ones.
Hope to fly in a bit, been pouring here all night.
Have a good day everyone. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -

No I don't we have blinds in quite a few rooms. I really could do with some for the french doors in the LR, I may take a look. Can I be in please? I only work p/t and for me I try to do an hour between 8-9 when DS3 has gone to school and before I shower and go to the paid stuff, I don't work util 10. Little and often helps to keep on top of the basics and once you make some progress is does become easier. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Morning all, thanks Natty for the new thread and for last week's Dusty.
Please count me in this week, will do a quick whizz round on essentials this morning and make a concentrated effort on all rooms tomorrow as will have the whole day to myself. Nothing is too bad but all needs going over as not much done last week.
Just tried to look at 'The Spoon Theory' link on 1st post but it seems to be showing chinese (?) jeans so not sure what that's all about!
Have a good day everyone.
