Saturday/Sunday 12th/13th September - What small DFW things will you do this weekend?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free!
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending!
So be proud of those small steps, they really important!:money:
Morning
Happy Saturday everyone :beer: Am off out to Gulliver's Travels shortly, attending a kinship care event so tickets are free - but obviously petrol won't be and it's over 2 hours drive :eek: actually just writing that makes me wonder if it's worth it??? Hmm will get ready and decide if we're going to go or not...
Ok still need to do a few small things today as well:
* checked banking - no change
* all meals from stores
* freeze some potato, chickpea and spinach curry
* list at least 5 items on fleabay
* pick up train tickets and post to dd
* ask oh to remind his df about asking his nephew if we can use his function room at his pub for my 40th in November - need to get moving with this. Hopefully it will be gratis :T
* call FU and set up dd
Ok think that's all I need to do today :T
hmmmmm am so lazy but have now decided it's not worth spending all that money on petrol and driving for 4 1/2hrs today
am thinking it's not in dgd's best interests and she would be much happier if we went to the local soft play and spent the day with her family. Maybe in years to come it would be but right now not x

Morning dnm not just me who is awake early on a Saturday morning then! Things to do today include emailing job no 2 again about why they haven't paid me. It's £70 and I have done the work so I want my money!
Have some emails to sort then it's just pottering about. Shouldn't need to spend anything today.0 -

Hiya yorkshirelass :hello: set my alarm to get up at the crack of dawn to go to Milton Keynes and have just talked myself out of going writing my post! :rotfl::o:rotfl:
Actually I really love getting up early and just being in the stillness of the morning - until I knocked a glass off of the mantle, spilled the contents everywhere and smashed the glass. After that racket I was no longer in the peace and stillness as it was moments before dgd started her morning call of "Nannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee I'm awake!" :rotfl:DF as at 30/12/16

Hi everyone. Thanks for starting DNMS :hello: I'm totally in your camp on the travel to an event. We spend so much of out time racing around to get to things, work, appointments, clubs, etc... Sometimes it's nice just not to
My list for the weekend:
Do packed lunch from stores to take to dancing for me and 2x DD
Friends later for play. Will walk, take top I bought for her son where we shared delivery. She owes me £4 for it, will pay to CC as have already accounted for it as a spend in my bank
Washing on overnight but I have woken to rain here but weather app tells me it's going to be sunny from 8 we'll seeif not will be on heated airer in garage
Check banking
Try and list some items on fleabay
Been accepted to sell at local nearly I new sale in October. Need t get OH to get stuff out of loft to resell and spend some time labelling up rest (will do over next few weekends)
Rest of meals from stores
Get paid Friday. Set myself an amount to be in credit based on what's in there now and see if I can achieve it 😀
Enjoy your weekend everyone0 -
Morning all & thanks for the start Determined, your revised plans for today sound lovely.
Well the rain came down last night and the garden looks really green & lush this morning, the rain has cleared all the dust from the patio from where we'd been working earlier in the week so its looking good.
Today is a chill day, although as I've been distracted in the garden all week I've forgotten to book our shopping delivery so we do need to go out, dh wants to wander round Tesco anyway so we'll go and do that sooner rather then later then back home to potter/watch movies/ read with kids/get homework out of the way etc
Today's list
* Check bank/update spreadsheets Done
* Check lucky phone Done
* Check FPL Done
* swagbucks
* Surveys Done
* Dejunk email accounts Done
Will add more as and when.....0 -
Good morning everyone, and thanks for the start DNMS. I think that you're doing the right thing with not travelling all that way when dgd is so small. She'll have just as much fun at soft play.
Rather typically after a beautiful week at work, I've gotten up this morning and it's chucking it down outside. That means DH definitely gets the job of taking DS to football this morning because I don't want to be standing out there in the rain for a couple of hours. I am hoping for a NSD today as I was a bit spendy yesterday, but we'll see how that pans out.
Plans for the day:have a shower
15 mins housework and declutter
investigate one of those boards that goes under sofa cushions to prolong the life of our sofa - as you can tell I don't even know what they're called.
check banking and PAD
do a load of washing
manage without the heating
meal plan for next week, and batch cook
no school work
mark exam papers for extra £
choose a new book to read from my massive stash of unread books
Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Morning All
Well we had a sort of lie in this morning as son didn't wake till 7. But I'd already got up and made coffee and taken it back to bed. I find if I deviate from my routine with sleep it's just not worth the feeling of being all over the place for the rest of the day.
So today. We've all just had a lovely relaxed breakfast downstairs for once. Boiled eggs, sliced tomatoes with salt and pepper, bacon & a loaf of farmhouse white bread I brought back from work, for toast. All very lovely.
Have read Kathy Wolk Stanleys 5 frugal things blog post & again marvelled at her attitude to keeping every penny she can whilst having a fun life.
Son has piano at 10 so will cycle him there whilst OH does another local bike errand.
It's funny to think it's only been a full week back at the school run routine. Just feels like slipping an old glove back on.
Right see you all later

Hi everyone!
I'm an ex DFW but I like to live by the lessons I learnt on my DMP to avoid backsliding. Can I join in?
This weekend I am;
-walking into town to avoid using petrol / paying for parking
- taking some small change to pay into savings (about £15 but every little helps!)
- doing my own eyebrows to avoid having them done at the salon this month - I can go another few weeks!
- looking into cancelling my gym membership as I have alternative ways of keeping fit that I enjoy more
- selling some stuff on eBay
- all food from the cupboards/freezer
- putting a mix of water, distilled vinegar and a splash of washing up liquid into my cars washer bottle. It's cheaper than screen wash and always does the job perfectly!0 -
Morning everyone,
Welcome Agent Squirrel!!
DNMS - Don't blame you for not wanting to drive down, plus children arn't the best to travel with!! With the "are we there yet?"
Bob - He's still in there unfortunately we're waiting for test results to come back
Woke up late this morning (well kept snoozing alarm) and not feeling too great (hubby has very generously given me his sore throat/headachy/feel rubbish bug!!).
At work 'till 6 today, was really good and cooked myself some salmon last night to have for lunch but hubby didn't put it in the fridge when I asked him to. I opened the tub it was in the morning and it didn't smell too good so gonna give that to the cats. So will be buying my lunch at work today which I didn't want to do. Plus I skipped breakfast as I was late up so had to get that at work which I also didn't want to do. So not off to a good start!!
But anyway here is my list of what I've done/going to do today:
- dinner from stocks (want at least one meal today that I didn't have to buy out!!)
- Check FPL
- Post some things for sale of FB (if I get the chance/feel up to it)
- Write blog post
Thats all I can think of for now!!Read my diaryHere0 -
Hi everyone :hello:
Thanks for the kick start DNMS :beer: I hear ya re today's plans - you will have a fab time at soft play I'm sure. I've just talked OH out of going a 3-hour round trip for a volunteer job he does at the footie - he'd enjoy it but just not justified if they don't even pay expenses.
It looks like we are going to move into our new house on Friday but we've not actually exchanged contracts yet... 'Admin error' at the top of the chain means we can't exchange until Monday morning. *crosses fingers all weekend*
So, we're staying with OH's parents this week and I'll stay at my friend's a couple of nights during the week as it's closer to work.
Not got much planned today, which is nice. I want to get a new dress for work so will check out the supermarkets first - always good for work stuff and I tend to have them for years so work out as v good value.
Visiting OH's grandma - will check out my new dining table again :cool:
Window shopping online for new housey stuff - that will keep me out of trouble
