Snaggles after working all my life I am currently studying (maturely - lol) and for the first time (apart from 18 months when no1 son was born)ever I'm not [strike]working[/strike] employed
. I'm loving every minute, surprisingly giving up work (school library manager and I loved it )was not easy and after giving up and starting my degree Sept 06 I returned to work again in Feb last year
. However with a degree and a couple of GCSE's to do work had to go (again) - this time it was much easier:D !! Do what feels right for you!

Oh yes, I never thought about going back to studying - I would quite like to do that I think. Working in a school library would suit me really well actually! I love books and read quite a lot, and I like kids and a certain amount of peace and quiet, plus I'm pretty organised and computer literate. Maybe i could look out for a job doing that."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

I would highly recommend it and my school was a secondary inner city with lots of problems but I loved it and the kids - warts and all!!! Promise I'm not wearing rosy coloured glasses - maybe slightly tinted ones - lol! I'm sure you'd be great a something like that! I love the study too though I'm doing a BA (hons) Early Childhood studies degree over 4 years and receive full student finance - on Stu's wage you would too!I stopped smoking 25th June 2007STILL Never complacent but confidentMy debt is GOING DOWN!!!!0

Afternoon!
I've just been speaking to one of the managers at work about my hours, and I think we have actually managed to agree on them! :T
They've offered me Tuesday & Wednesday evenings, and Saturday morning, which is perfect. Because of the problem with them not having a manager in to cover those shifts though, they have asked if I will do Wednesday days for the first 6 months, until I'm back up to speed with everything, BUT they have guaranteed that I can work the late shift during school holidays.
So I will have no childcare problems with Ryan at all, the only issue is what to do with Natasha on a Wednesday during the day.
I've just rung the nursery across the road from Ryan's school, and they are ringing me back shortly to let me know if they have any places available. If not, I will have to ring round some others, but being so close to school, this one would be ideal, so fingers crossed.
I will have to check how long the contract would be with them, and check what tax credits I will get, but I'm really hoping this means I can just go back to work as planned. It means I wont be able to do the volunteer work at Ryan's school just yet, but once Tasha is settled into a nursery and is used to going, I can see about her going for an extra morning a week so I can do that too."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Absolutely BRILLIANt news hunny!
I am so pleased for you.
How far away is your job from school/nursery? Will you be able to nip back for a 'feed' or will you wean little madam? Or can you express and leave her a cup of booby juice?
Look into childminders as well sweets-some are really wonderful!Empty pockets never held anyone back, only empty heads and empty hearts can do that -Peale0 -
Thanks!
I wont be able to pop back for a feed unfortunately, but I will still be able to do 3 feeds a day - I will just miss the bedtime one on a Tuesday and the lunchtime one on a Wednesday. Not sure how the little monkey will react to that, but she likes juice now, so even if she has to have that, at least she will be drinking something.
I thought about a childminder (in fact I know some very lovely people who are/have been childminders), but it will be one day a week, term-time only, for 6 months, so I doubt if anyone will want to do it really. Plus it needs to be somewhere local because I will have to drop Natasha off before Ryan - Ryan starts school at 9am, and I start work 20 minutes away at 9.30am, so it will be a push to be there on time in the morning traffic.
I know it's really lazy, but I just can't be bothered to express in a morning when I'm trying to get everyone ready, and I don't do very well with freezing and defrosting boobymilk - it keeps going off, even though i sterilise everything properly."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
I'm sure she'll be fine-I would call the local council and ask for a list of childminders, they are usually more flexible than nurseries and you can drop off at a time that suits you-term time only was great for me and I know my childminder has some children term time only as well.
How many months now is Natasha?

Thanks guys.
Gemmzie, I hope you're feeling a bit better hun. xxx
Bunny, she's 9 months old now....scary!
Haven't heard back from the nursery but the lady I spoke to did say she was in a meeting, so hopefully they will ring tomorrow. I'll enquire about local childminders too as well, and see which will work out best."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250
