Oooh, forgot to say as well, I've finally finished filling in the DLA form. The local AS support group gives help in filling them in, so I will ask them to have a look at it, and then hopefully get it sent off this week.

Feels a bit weird really, like I'm profiting from Ryan's illness, but I'm sure I'm just being silly, because he IS more expensive and time consuming to look after than an average 7 year old, but I suppose we have just got used to coping on our own.

Great news about the flexible working hours, top. Can I ask, how many hours a day do you spend pumping off the old milk?

You would think, wouldn't you.

She had FIVE yesterday, little madam!!! Back to 4 again today, but I'm dropping her to 3 from tomorrow and she's going to have normal milk at bedtime, with a biscuit.

    Does this sound okay:

    7.00am - breastfeed
    8.00am - breakfast
11.00am - snack and breastfeed (or normal milk if working)
    1.00pm - lunch
    4.00pm - breastfeed
    5.00pm - dinner
6.30pm - breastfeed (or normal milk if working) and biscuit/ricecake

I've just been feeding her when she seemed hungry, but this is the routine she's sort of chosen for herself. I'm not feeling that confident about it all for some reason, so any of you Mums, if you could tell me what you think I would be very grateful!

you usually don't really realise how different they are until you really sit and think about it ,ie when you have to fill in dla forms as they are mostly about what they can't do aren't they.
dan has got a heart condition and needs regular cardio checks as he has had open heart surgery needs regular paed checks etc spent umpteen weeks at southampton hospital which is over an hour away without his dla to be honest i wouldnt have afforded to take him to hospital at 3am! or even afford to eat while i stayed with him don't feel bad as even though you may not need the money on a daily or a weekly basis it will get spent caring for him or making yours and ryan's life easier xx

Hahaha, somehow you make even THAT seem smutty! :rotfl:

I don't really express at all any more, because she has been refusing bottles, so I'm trying cows milk out of a cup (health visitor says that's fine because she is still having plenty of breastmilk and lots of vitamins from the solids).

When I DID express though, it would take me about 15 mins a 'side' (lol), and I would get about 6 fluid ounces from one boob. Usually I would only express from one side per day, because for some reason expressing used to send my milk production into overdrive!

You're not exactly making a profit. A profit is when you bring in more than you spend. And that includes time...

Goodness me jacs, I always feel quite amazed when you talk about your lovely young man, because you have been through so much with him, but you are so positive about it. You're a star!

If we do get DLA, it will be mostly spent repairing or replacing the things Ryan breaks when he has a meltdown, but also, it will have the knock on effect of helping make the new house (if we ever buy one) more affordable, so we can give him his own bedroom. I think having his own, private, calm space will become more important the older he gets (and the older Tasha gets). And it will mean that Tasha wont be disturbed by him leaping around the bedroom chattering at all hours.
