The windows are a bit drafty, probably more cold than drafty though IYKWIM. I need to get around to having double glazing throughout but am waiting until hubby is feeling better & is though his ops. before I do so. They are all aluminium single glazed. :( When I bought the house from new I asked for UPVC double glazing but builder wouldn't do it - even when I offered to let him keep windows & I'd source & pay for the UPVC DG ones. It just seems now too much hassle to have everything replaced, I need new kitchen & bathroom too so am hoping to get it all done at once & maybe go on a cruise/long holiday to US while it's being done? Hubby has to have his back & knees done before we can do this. I also have to find a builder who I can trust before it's all done - there is no way hubby could put up with dust & we need doors blocked up/re-positioned too.

I'm no double glazing salesman...but for the price of a decent cruise you could probably get your windows replaced and the benefit to you not just in terms of loss of heat would be very noticeable.

The windows they make nowadays are really very good and having them fitted is a doddle, almost a case of popping the old ones out and slotting in the new ones....I am not the best when it comes to getting work done and cant be around whilst its being done etc but our last 2 houses have had complete window changes which took no more than 2 days to complete and we didnt even have to patch in any of the frames or redecorate afterwards...

I think a lot is down to getting the right window company in the first place and an independent one will usually beat the nationals hands down...but its really not as much of an upheaval as you would imagine.

kitchens and bathrooms...well thats a little different and yep youre quite right to go away whilst those 2 are being done...our last house renovation took about 6 months to get the basics done but that also included a rewire and total gut....but I'm glad I moved out whilst it was ongoing!

has anyone had a till spit from Morrisons which said spend at least £10 get 250 points added - think its 250 points per £10

if so how long did it take for your points to go on?

The SSS scanned the voucher for me and it shows as 1p so its def scanned - just wondering how long it takes as I am quite close to the match and more total for a fiver :T - hoping that I've scanned OHs and not mine.

the tills pit then gave me another one :D

I had a look at the plant section in Morribobs yesterday and there seemed to be new ones coming in - some of the 2 for £3 ones and a few others for £2 so ideal for gap filling - as long as you don't dig up the spring bulbs you have just planted :D

there was some of the nice lobelias, primulas with drumstick heads, white penstonenes, linum whatever that is, veronicas - so I ended up with 6 plants for £10 which is not too bad.

and that's what I should be doing now instead of drinking tea and wondering about Morrisons match and more points ...

I got one when I was in earier. I left it in a trolley because I'm hoping someone will use it and the points will go on my account like the bonus point coupons that get posted out from time to time. If the wombler gets the points added to their account then i won't complain

Feeling down? Weak in body? Makes no difference to me, I think of you all when I'm sitting quietly.

So sorry to hear about the little girl Sarah, how terribly sad.

Ladyshopper, my DH has used Black Circle after a friend told him about them. They were absolutely fine.

I needed petrol today and remembered to get it from S for the extra points. I usually try to fill up to a round number of £££, but had to remember to do litres today - I put in exactly 40 :)
S is the nearest petrol station to my house and the price was 105.9. A is cheaper at 105.7 but is about 250 yards further away so I think the points made up for the price difference :D

I love a pen and paper you cant beat it...
When my mum was alive and in a nursing home even though she was only half an hour or so away and I used to visit at least twice a week,I also used to send her a postcard with a few lines on at least once a week. She suffered with dementia and whilst a lot of the time she would be confused about quite a lot of things her postcards on her postcard wall was something she never lost sight of and would know if a week had been missed.

It wasnt just me that used to send cards but others in the family too....I think there are several of us who still can't walk past a stand of postcards without having a look whats on it and having to resist the urge to buy a few for mum.

It's not so much the money - although I don't think we could get everything double glazed for the price of a cruise, our windows are very big! I also want french doors instead of window in dining room - big mess & dust cutting these out + 2 doors blocked up in kitchen & 3rd one relocated, maybe even an archway made instead of a door. Honestly, who puts 3 doors in a small kitchen? We're still talking about a conservatory out the back to put a hot tub in. It's probably best/more economical & hassle free (hopefully) to get everything done at once, although bit worried about leaving it all in someone else's hands totally. Have no-one in family to keep eye on things while we're away, although next door would probably keep an eye on things for us as they are brilliant neighbours. The other side we have the neighbour from hell who pinched 1/3rd of my back garden (hence probs. with conservatory) when I stayed with mum one Christmas & has the dog who barks all day/night.
