Lemon drizzle cake or anything involving chocolate, pretty please. :D

I am on here avoiding housework. I have run out of plates, cups, cutlery and pans to cook tea. Every weekend I have a blitz and make a resolution that I'll keep up with things more during the week and the next weekend things are just as bad again. I'm terrible at housework at the best of times but this time of year is the worst. I need sun and light nights to get motivated.

Any idea what's affecting your sleep, Torry?

Sleep problems are just part of the ME. It comes and goes but particularly bad just now.

  • Well done, Melly! It really is dangerous for the child. You did totally the right thing.

I understand what you mean, Torry. Mental health aside my immune disorders mean the slightest exertion hurts for days afterwards plus I get tired very quickly. Add to that the fact that I can;t even step down a kerb in the road without someone there to hold me and I spend most days going from the bedroom, to bathroom to sofa.

Have you thought of trying some online courses? I find it very hard to absorb information so I tend to pick ones where I can take as long as I want and sometimes just read a paragraph a day. I have been very brave lately and am doing a course just for fun with my american friend about genetics. As I have a lot of hereditary conditions it is interesting to me and although it is very hard I am slowly grasping it. I even contacted my friend's professor and he is highly amused that someone in another country would like to take his course for fun. It does give me a purpose to my day and because there is no rush to complete it there is no pressure.

    Carrot cake, please!

WaS You have it so hard yet manage to be positive on here. I don't know how you manage. The online courses sound interesting and as you say itis an interest outside yourself and can be done slowly.

Forgive my ignorance, but are there any treatments for ME as yet, or is it about managing it as best you can?

  • Aw, thank you Torry. I try to stay as upbeat as I can! There are many courses out there that are constantly available year after year so there is no rush to complete them at all. I have a done a few now and it has taken me far longer than it would most people but it really does give a purpose to my day and makes me feel like I am achieving something. You can take them for qualifications but then they have to be completed within a set time which I cannot do. There are various levels so you can start with the easiest and work your way up. The hereditary illnesses one I am taking now is the hardest yet and the first one that is a proper college course, I would never have been brave enough if I didn't start with very simple ones first.

Keep it mind for when you are having a day with a little more energy. Let me know if you would like some links if you feel ready.

    Good afternoon all!

I am envious of you tigger, as daft as it sounds I could listen to dutch people speak for hours, I really love the language. What would you do if you don't go, tonight? Could you do something to treat yourself instead? Treat can be a book on the sofa with chocolate!

I would report you neighbour Melly if only for the safety of the child.
