If I see one more "photos that make me proud to be a mother" post on facebook I won't be responsible for my actions.

Oh, I'd missed that Georgie. Goodness we seem to be losing a few this year.

Makes me just want to shout out that I f*cking hate Cancer  I don't know if it's just me, but when I was little, you never hardly seemed to hear of anyone with it. Unless it just wasn't talked about as much, or people passed not knowing they had it? I don't know?

Good luck with your campaigning elsien. Do you go round on your own or have you got someone to go round with you?

On my own, so no-one to hide behind. Which is probably why, if they seem not interested, I hastily scurry off instead of trying to persuade them. Feeling guilty about interrupting their time at home probably doesn't help.

It's very impressive that you're doing this elsien. No matter how people respond, you should be really proud of yourself.
  • Is it just you campaigning against the supermarket or a group of people? If it's a few of you, you should definitely try and get someone to go round with you. I'd say some people could be quite intimidating to a woman on her own.

I've got to admit, I don't have much time for cold callers, but that's usually the men trying to tell you your roof needs sorted, guttering needs cleaned or windows need replaced. (No to all 3....'can't you see they're new?!') Oh, and I hate the RSPCA coming round as they are so pushy, and weren't amused when asked if we'd like to donate, we offered up monkey cat! :rotfl: (they must get that all the time! :p)

I'm sure I'd stand and listen to you though, as you're not trying to sell me anything/get money out of me. :)

Yes, as Georgie says, some cold callers give everyone else a bad name! Makes it even harder to get people listening as previous unscrupulous callers have got their back up. I have to admit, I very rarely answer the door at home.

On the subject of nuisance callers (not putting you in that category AT ALL elsien!!).... yesterday my parents got calls from FOH (1) and FOHs crazy mother (2). Fair play to them, they're getting the hang of this.....hung up and called the police. They've got an appointment this morning to give another statement. Am so angry that they think it's acceptable to drag my family into this and keep harassing them. When I next speak to the police am going to ask about pressing charges against his mum too, she's as bad as him!
  • What on earth is his Mum playing at? Him, I can understand (far from right of course), but her? At first I felt sorry for her and thought she must be at her wits end worried about her son, but now I just think she's as bad as him.

Well done to your parents for calling the police.

Give Fly a squish from me please, Melly if you talk to her again!

You are so brave, elsien. I would be useless at that.

Big hugs, tea. Those posts annoy me, too. As do the ones which say you can't know love unless you have been a mother. I scroll very quickly past.

The euphoria has gone but I seem to be ok so far. I am having another day to get my head around it and then I will start the dreaded form. WaSp is getting worried about my sleep because I am becoming very confused at night and waking him up by saying odd things and trying to get out of bed whilst crying and shouting. I remember very little of it but it's enough for him to ask if I should talk to my psychiatrist. It is affecting poor WaSp more than it is me right now, other than I am always really tired because I am not sleeping properly. My psychiatrist would just say that it is psychosis, really it is just my usual disturbed sleep stepped up a few notches. That doesn't help WaSp get any rest, however!

Quick edit-What does disturb me about my sleep pattern being like this is it highlights how I am not safe to live alone. Over the years, several professionals have mentioned residential care for me but have never pursued it because I have always had WaSp with me. It is something they have hinted that might have to happen if WaSp was no longer with me. At times like this it makes me think of it and realise that without WaSp being able to care for me I couldn't actually live independently because carer's visiting wouldn't see me through the night when I have no idea what I am doing. Sheltered housing also wouldn't work because it doesn't keep me safe when I am mostly asleep and up and about. It is a scary prospect that will hopefully never happen and it's ironic that as a result of the ESA form I seem to now need more night time care than I did before I got it.

I have the same problem with Search, elsien.

    Some lovely Valentine's ideas:

ETA: WaS, you don't need to justify your ESA to any of us!

How about for every bullet point you put on the form, you stick a positive on this thread to counteract it. It won't change that you need the ESA but it will show that you can still have joy in your life. eg feet problems & being housebound. Positive is that your feet are lovely and soft.
