I may have to buy another house for my stuff.

    Well, yes! Know the feeling!

I keep saying I need another empty room which I can take stuff into to sort, box up and generally decide what to do with it. At the moment, every room is so full that I haven't got the space to do that, so even if I box up some stuff, there's nowhere to put it while I'm deciding what to do with it, or till I can get it to the tip/charity shop etc.
What I'd really like to do is sell it, but eBay seems so difficult and fraught with problems like returns and getting it parcelled up, and table sales etc are out because I can't lug heavy boxes any more. :(
I don't even have anywhere to photograph it all!

Hence another room would be just the ticket!

If I had a garage I could put it in there on display for sale, and just have rolling garage sales until it was all gone. But I don't have a garage.

Selling stuff on eBay can be a pita sometimes, but worth it if it does sell. You've got to be semi organised I guess, and quite often I'm not and have to go searching high and low for the item that has just sold!

Personally I try to stick to things that are easily packaged (I got some of those grey mailing sacks, 100 for only a few pounds off eBay) such as clothes or DVD's, although I do sell other stuff too. I really need to get round to selling my saxophone. I also keep boxes from things I've bought to reuse as packaging.

I usually just take photos off clothes hanging up either infront of my wardrobe, or the white cupboard door in the kitchen. Make sure you get close ups, from and back, and, a trick I learnt after one woman tried to claim I'd misrepresented the size, I always take photos of the label and any tags too. Just make sure the area is as well lit as possible.

The only way to cover yourself if people say they don't receive the item is to send it by recorded delivery. If it's only a cheap item, I don't always bother with this, but anything worth more, I always do as I've been stung that way before.

I usually (nearly always nowadays) put things on buy it now, make me an offer as I find they sell better and quicker than a standard auction and for higher prices too.

Oooh! Why are you selling your saxophone? Wouldn't you want to start again one day?

    I love the saxophone! :)

Really need to chuck some stuff on ebay. Maybe all those reed diffuser thingies and some dresses. Georgie, I need you to come and sell my stuff hehe.

Have a really unsettled feeling like something is going to happen.

  • Well Pyxis, that was one of my "how hard can it be?" moments! I wanted to learn a new musical instrument and I'd always loved the sound of the sax. I figured that as I could read music, had done my grades and could already play the recorder then it would be a breeze! Erm,not quite as straightforward as I first thought! I thought the fingering (no sniggering at the back please!) would be the same, and whilst it is in some respects, there's also a lot more holes. Also I don't appear to have the wind power to actually get a decent note out of it!

If I actually took the time to sit down and learn, I'd probably get the nack of it, but it was just one of those things that get stuck in a cupboard never to see the light of day again.

Hehe I'd love too! I think I'd be really good doing it for other people, really organised....much more so than I am for myself!

I know it's still early yet, but come spring time, wedding season will start, and if they're the kind of dresses that someone might wear to a wedding, then that's a good time to sell them to get optimal prices!

I hate that unsettling feeling code. :(

They're prom/bridesmaids dresses so hopefully someone will buy them.
