That LOTR comment was lovely benrben, what a lovely chap your son sounds
Has anyone here heard of the Duncton Chronicles? It's a series of six (huge!) books....think LOTR meets Narnia, but with moles! Am halfway through the second book and am absolutely captivated.
ETA: just in case....they're definitely not children's books. Some pretty tough themes are covered.0 -
Ah WaS. Massive hugs. Thank you for sharing. I have learned so much about schizophrenia from you. I'm not sure if I have mentioned before but my uncle spent most of his adult life in institutions because of his schizophrenia and when I was a child, my parents weren't able to tell me much about it. Later, studying abnormal psychology, I learned more but it's good to get an actual person's persepctive, particularly when the person in question paints as good a picture as you do. So there you go. Definitely not useless. As for the feeling like a fake thing, I feel like that 98% of the time, particularly at work. I remind myself that everyone is feeling the same way. Also you may have as much toast as you like.
Sorry about the job hbs. Clearly the people interviewing were muppets who should have chosen you. But you are an interesting, articulate person with a wide range of hobbies so I believe you will find a job soon.
Benrben, your son sounds lovely.
Pyxis, regardless of horrible family, you are lovely, supportive and wonderful and very much the mummy of our fort.
Tea, ono and Calley, have you considered the subscription sites? I found I had more luck on those as people who have paid tend to be more serious about it, whereas the free ones tended to be populated by weirdos (sorry Georgie, only word for them), timewasters, marrieds and people sending photos of their junk. Maybe worth trying out on one of their free weekends to see if you like the look of anyone on there. All my paired up friends from internet dating, myself included, met their OHs on a site that rhymes with hatch*. Also sometimes it takes some time. I was on a dating site off and on for 2 years (couple of relationships during that time), whereas for Mr CP, I was the first person he met. He teases me about that saying that he has a 100% success rate so must be a catch!! :rotfl:
Georgie - I'm not really bothered about scented candle thing and people keep buying me Yankee candles and those reed diffuser thingies (no good for people with pets as if it spills on them, they get burned). I burn the candles, indeed there is even a dedicated bathroom candle for smells, but I seem to end up with so many, its ridiculous. It's almost as bad as people buying me lavender scented things. I hate the smell of lavender.
For everyone else, I think you're all great and sorry for not doing more individuals but my texting fingers hurt now.

Hello everyone! Gosh, I think it's less than 48 hours since I last posted, and in that time I have had to read a small novel (QUANTITY of posts, rather than LENGTH of posts, before WaS starts beating herself up for her BRILLIANT, INSIGHTFUL, HELPFUL posts :rotfl:). (The LOL emoticon is because the psychosis have such silly ideas, not because.... Oh dear, I'm getting paranoid now, aren't I! WaS, your posts are fab
)
I can't remember everything I should say, but
- Love the orcs quotation
- So sorry HBS but would you want to work with such stupid people? There's something better out there for you, for sure!
- I have just bought the Oliver Sacks book about hallucinations, so will share anything useful from there.
Oliver Sacks was such a lovely man. I wrote to him once, bemoaning the fact that Musicophilia isn't (wasn't) available in audio format in this country. That meant that it wasn't accessible to Mr JM - I pointed out that there were lots of his clients it wouldn't be accessible to. His response was to get his office to send us an audio format of EVERY SINGLE book they had! I think I've read everything he's written except for this book, which I think was his last......Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -

I am sorry to hear about your uncle, Code. A lot of the time these things just aren't discussed so people don't have the chance to learn. I was just thinking that judging by everyone's responses the one thing I have learnt is that my thoughts aren't as 'out there' as I thought. Extreme maybe, but it seems everyone feels similar to one degree or another. Paranoid, psychotic thoughts aren't that different after all which means I'm not so yay!
Hahahaha! Oh no, I made JM paranoid! I am paranoid about making paranoid now! Don't worry JM, I am joking, that made me giggle. Please let us know if there is anything useful about hallucinations, how to stop them would be good!

Just know it's about seeing how fat I am
Told them we.also need to sort what's happening with floating support worker and OH otherwise no point they and my living situation are what's causing the relapse.
I can't even choose when to rest. I can only rest when they are out and then I'm waiting for them to get back and jumping at noise
This is why I am controlling food intake.

That's fine code. It is a word like any other, there to be used, but as tea said, it's all about context.
Scented candles and lavender scented items are two of my favourite things. I got my Mam into them, she got my Aunty into them, and now my MIL is obsessed with them! :rotfl: I don't use those reeds though, as I can never smell them so think they are abit pointless.
Listed loads of stuff on eBay is afternoon. Takes blooming ages, but worth it if it sells.
Big hugs (((((Melly))))) I know you shouldn't have to, but have you tried using earplugs? That way it'll hopefully drown out some of the noise and allow you to get at least a few hours kip?
Forgot to say, that was a lovely supportive thing for your son to say benrben.0 -
Melly - big hugs, if you're brave enough to open up here and admit to what happened to you then you can achieve pretty much anything.
WaS - I hope things calm down for you soon. I know it's an awful experience for you and I wish you didn't have to go through it but your descriptions are so clear that it's fascinating to read.
HBS - I can see why you're gutted about not getting the job and I hope something better comes your way soon
I know there was loads more I wanted to say but have been catching up on a lot of posts (pretty much everything since Friday night...) and seem to have a leaky brain.
Hugs to all that need them, whether that be in big squishy or air form xx0 -
It's so cold I made myself a little nest of fluffy blanket and hot water bottle (benefit of working from home). Made the mistake of turning my back for a minute...P cat now looks v comfy and warm.0
