  • Oops! good point JM! I shall arrange it with Pyxis so that she can post etiquette after my first post!

Melly, I doubt they would section you as your weight isn't in severely dangerous levels. When my weight was very low I was offered therapy and told I could become an inpatient if I wished but it wasn't forced on me at all. The therapy was really helpful because I discovered that in my case it wasn't about physical appearance at all but a way to feel in control similar to my OCD with a side of self-punishment thrown in. I know it's scary but do try to go to the appointment if you can, learning why an ED exists is really helpful to learning to control it.

I know why I do it WaS

    Penguin

I was gang raped when I was 7 across the road from my house. My Mother witnessed it and a week later left a book about sex on my bed. I don't eat as it was the only means of control I had at that age.[/COLOR]

I don't need therapy to help me understand or deal with it, I need help developing new control mechanisms and maybe some of the crap I am dealing with being given dealt with by someone else

    Duplicate and once was enough
  • Big hugs Melly, I can totally understand why you reacted that way. I am so sorry that that happened to you. I found CBT useful for helping me feel in control in other ways it often gave me an alternative to either eating too much or too little. I still relapse now but it is better than what it was. Have you heard from the floating support worker yet? I agree that if you had someone else helping to deal with the day to day things it would be easier for you to control the ED. Mine definitely worsens when things feel chaotic around me.

    melly,

I am so sorry for what you went through as a child. I don't understand your mother's reaction but I guess her own life was very difficult. I am also sorry for everything you are going through right now.

I guess different people need different things out of therapy but you and the therapist should be able to discover what you need over time between yourselves. Please don't give up on the idea of getting some help.

As I said to GP from the conversations I have had with them to the last one they want to see how fat I am and I can't cope with that.
I am either to fat (bad) or scary thing will happen.
