Penguin to Georgie
I don't cry at funerals and usually not for a few months afterwards. Death of people I care for numbs me completely, I tend to feel nothing at all at the time. It is my brains way of protecting me because it hurts too much and I don't feel able to deal with the feelings at the time. I tend to cry much later when it feels safe to do so. I am the busy person at funerals, supplying tea, comforting people, making sure everyone else is ok. Always with a smile on my face and willing to chat. It is purely a coping strategy because in reality I am grief stricken and feel absolutely awful once I allow myself to experience it.
I have said before that I don't remember my Dad's funeral, I switched to another personality in the car journey there and didn't come back for 9 months. As soon as I returned I tried to take my life. I remember absolutely nothing of those 9 months, my MPD made me just shut down totally as a coping strategy and I just 'went to sleep'. I didn't cry beforehand, I just felt nothing at all. For the next 15 years I cried my eyes out every birthday for him but at the time I couldn't cope so I just went away. People deal with death in different ways, there is no right or wrong.
End penguin
Ono, I remember that happening to WaSp when he maintained systems. He had set one up to email him if it overheated, he had a ridiculous number of emails the next morning because it had informed him every 3 minutes! Deep breath, you can handle it. Remember tea and coffee breaks!
Lovely to hear from you, Welly! Give escapette a gentle squish from me, please!
My beliefs are very similar to yours Kitty and I adore the autumn.
You sound as if you are having a lovely time, Pyxis! Enjoy tomorrow!
Hope you feel better, Calley!
All ok here, still got Doctor Who face but the spots have gone so I can stop using the cream. Hopefully I will have a face back soon. You all have me thinking as you talk about languages, I have always wanted to learn Latin. I had a Latin dictionary as a child and used to try to teach myself. Perhaps I should give it a try...Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

What happens at a handfasting ceremony?
Kitty, you'd have loved one of the songs we sang today. It sang "The Earth has music for those who listen" and we sang it in four parts, round and round, accompanied by a crashing thunderstorm and torrents of rain! It was wonderful!
I am very fond of the idea of the old Father Christmas, (not Santa Claus!), the one dressed in green, not red, the one linked to Old Father Time and the Green Man, the darker, more melancholy one, symbolising the end of the old year. The one with a wreath of greenery for a headdress. The one linked to Mummers.(I just lurve spiders!)

Welly, don't feel guilty about OH doing things for you. Think of it as a return to the tradition of women lying in for two weeks after childbirth to recuperate, and not being allowed to lift a finger.
I need to go back to Italy as an adult and revisit the places I completely failed to appreciate as a child. I just think if it as being expensive to visit - not sure whether that's really the case or not.
Meal out sounds good, Calley. It's an "out", as we used to say. Are the antibiotics making you feel a bit down? They always used to have that effect on a relative, caused her to feel more depressed.
And in other news, Gitdog is booked in for his good citizen silver assessment in 3 weeks. Lets just say we're not getting our hopes up. Positive vibes will be requested in due course. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

I dragged myself out of my pit of depression and went to my martial arts grading exam. What I lacked in technique and fitness I made up for with effort (and perfume because I was desperate and I thought it might help!)
Anyway, I am definitely not a teenage mutant ninja turtle, but I am getting there.

Don't know. There is other stuff going on at the moment. Which could be the cause of me feeling down.
Just feel at the moment what ever I do is wrong.
So hacked off where I got this infection and that it wont go away. next lot of meds are a bit stronger LOL!! And they sent my wee off as well.

Lovely name Welly, took me ages to figure out her nickname!
Don't feel bad about not being able to do much, you've just had pretty major surgery so you need to recover!
Well done on the belt WW! :T
