  • Just want to say, WaS, what you said in your penguin (about jolly people), I've found in the majority of cases to be very true. :(

I also love how you are so honest, open and wise, and how you share your experiences with everyone.

You are amazing! :) Everyone on this thread is infact! Thank you all for your replies. :)

No-one (including other English people!) can work out my accent. I remember a cousin of mine introducing me to his mother. She asked "where are you from? You sound rather posh!" :o

Glad it was as OK as it could be Georgie. (((Hugs)))

For the accent thing, I always get English and nothing else? I'm from Yorkshire, but don't have a very broad accent; it's not like I speak like the queen so must *obviously* be from England! :o It's always funny when we try to explain where we're from though... 'Is that near London?' 'No, London is 220m away!'... 'Errr... Manchester?'...'Sure... let's say that we're *just outside* Manchester... 80m outside!' :p

Georgie, at your Dad's funeral, you were still numb. You were soooooo very upset, that you were numb. At other funerals you weren't numb, so all your sense of loss, for your Dad, for the person whose funeral it was, and for their relatives, it all comes flooding out.

Don't be upset that you didn't cry. It certainly doesn't mean you weren't upset, it means you were too upset to cry. :A

Onomatopeia, I'm the opposite! I keep speaking Italian in my French class! The teacher just pretends he hasn't understood!

Yes. Latin conjugated a bit like Italian in that each part of the verb has a unique form so you don't need the personal pronouns to differentiate. And nouns decline with a nominative, vocative, accusative, genitive, dative and ablative. There's a lot in German that's taken straight from Latin, including the position of words in a sentence, even though the actual words aren't Latin in appearance.

Sorry folks, but he pressed my language button! :D

Anyway, I'll check out the turtle thing when I'm back in the UK!

I've a most lovely day.......some local singers came, by arrangement, and we taught them some songs and they taught us some and we all sang together for several hours! At last I was able to have a good practice of Italian! Just as well as there's only one day left! :(

  • Thank you for the lovely wishes everyone :)

Just having a cuddle with escapette now while hubby sleeps, he does so much at the moment as I am pretty immobile. I feel awful as I can't help, but once things have healed it should be fine.

I'm feeling OK thank you Flybaby. Had a cry this morning but it was happy tears, so thankful she got here safely as there was a point it looked dicey for us both.

Got a counselling appointment booked now for in a week or so. I'm glad as I'm still feeling pretty angry about how things turned out. If the professionals had listened to what both me and hubby were saying then things would have gone a lot more smoothly with less risk. I feel bad for hubby still too as he saw a lot of things he shouldn't have.

Had MIL round today to help us out, was good to get tidied and sorted.

Hope everyone else is doing OK.

Breast pumping time now, the joys!!

Kitty! That sounds exciting! Are you wikka?
I'd love to know more! I like the old Earth/Nature faiths, if Faith is the right word. :)

Katy, sorry you had a rough time of it. Am so glad everything turned out all right.

  • I'd be interested too Kitty. We had a handfasting ceremony at our wedding as hubby is pagan and I really enjoyed it, it meant more to us than the official ceremony. He also spends a lot of time pouring booze in the garden when he has asked for 'help'. Not sure I quite agree with that! It does seem to work though to be fair.

Sorry Indie, I forgot to reply about the name. I will just call her Escapette on here for privacy, but if you wanted a clue she is named after an Italian city beginning with F, and we shorten it to a funfair treat.

Little Sod met her for the first time today. He had a sniff and was very gentle. He is confused by the noises she makes and got so upset he was sick last night when she cried. No malice in him though so I think they will be fine eventually.
  • I do class my beliefs as a faith :)

I follow my own 'faith' that I have built up over the years. I found that other mainstream ones, including paganism, were quite constricting and I didn't like to follow something that I didn't fully believe. Neo paganism is probably the closest one though :)

I have a great love for the earth and nature as a whole, and worship the earth, sun and moon if anything. I am thankful for nature and what it brings and thankful for every element of it. I believe that the snow, sun, wind, rain etc all have an amazing role to play and nature does it all for a reason (more than the physics of it)...I am thankful for all of that.

I believe that all creatures, great and small are equal. I partly believe in reincarnation and that we all have an energy within us that is transferred in life and death (a soul). Therefore us humans are no better than the snail you see on the pavement, the pigeon that you curse, or the beautiful lions of Africa. I do believe that with our intelligence, we do have a duty however to care for the other souls around us.

I would love the idea of a hand fasting ceremony, and I have always said that if we were going to get a civil partnership that it would include that. My boyfriend is a strong atheist, but he said he is more than happy to share that experience with me.

Winter (including Yule) and Spring are the most important for me personally, as I think it is such a beautiful experience. The death and rebirth of nature all around us..it brings me hope and is just amazing.
