Tea, I was thinking about your dating this morning and I remembered some advice I received from a lecturer once. He said that women should date men around 8 years younger than them because they'd be able to support them for longer. If you retire at 65 and your partner is only 57, then that's 8 years longer at a full salary when your mortgage is probably already paid off. So shift your profile to younger dudes :rotfl:

I wonder if my ex was given the same advice, she was 7 years older than me... Anyway, what is this "supporting" of which you speak? :p

Stupid question of the week, does someone know once you've picked up their voicemail?

D's back and as suspected if he can't commute then his job is over. He has another meeting in 15 days for some reason. He thinks (hopes) that because he would have to do knowledge transfer, then he can stretch it out for another 6 weeks roughly.

They asked questions like would you consider relocating? That isn't an option, but he answered that he'd consider it. I said what did he do that for and he was like "well of course I wouldn't, but they don't need to know that straight away" This is what bugs me about him lately, playing silly !!!!!!s
  • Georgie, I routinely ignore the phone if I don't feel like talking, or I check the caller ID before answering. My take on it is I won't be at the beck and call of a device that rings at me (this also applies to the doorbell), if people want me they can send an email and I'll reply when I'm in the mood.

I have the same problem as Pyxis with the GP surgery witholding their ID though, as I never speak when I pick up to a withheld number (silence often means that spam callers will disconnect in a few seconds), but the GP receptionist gets very confused!

That's what happens when you have a pension and your partner is still earning a salary. Alternatively what I attempt to convince Mr CP to do.

They don't know if you've heard it or not. I don't think there's the equivalent of a read response on voicemail.

It is annoying, but I can see what D was trying to do - seem helpful and accommodating rather than dismissive, even if it might hold things up. At least it gives him time to start looking for a new job. It's hard to know what to do in that situation. Last time I cried. I felt really stupid but actually, they felt so bad that they gave me an extra month's wages on top of my salary and sent me home immediately.

Thats the thing though, he wasn't trying to be helpful and accomodating. He was wanting to hold things up, and also "because they playing silly beggars then so will I"

Oh good, I can check the voice mail and he won't know! :rotfl:

Weigh in Wed. 3 good things this last week:

    1. I forgot about weigh in wed and when I read your posts earlier I was eating a healthy lunch!
    2. I was talking to a slim customer about New Year resolutions and discovered that I could get my body into positions that she can't do. (I am still the least fit at my exercise class. As I get better, everyone else is still improving too, so it is great to realise that I am improving on Average Josephine).
    3. The new pyjamas I bought, which were tightish at Christmas are now loose.

3 good things for the week ahead:
    1. Coil being fitted so hormones so should stabilise. Keep your legs crossed for me!
    2. I will wear my rediscovered pedometer daily.
    3. Keep up with the vitamins and healthy eating.

My scales are broken at the moment but I am hoping to discover that I am lighter than DH (by dragging him to the seesaw in the park. He refused to go earlier as I had given insufficient notice of weigh in wed, lol).

    Evening my Shipmates,

I am now back after 2 hooch's and tipsy and now opened a bottle of perry wine stuff.

Only had 4 pieces of toast today OMG think I might be a be drunk. Got some snacks that we will eat while watching a film.

I know I will regret drinking in the morning.

And I managed to do my makeup like a grown up :rotfl: very proud of that achievement.

    Yours

    Calley

Well, that was a Comedy of Errors. The letting agent sent a plumber who could easily see where the leaks were through our ceiling, the water has outlined a pipe that was leaking. He did say it was a clean water pipe so that's something. The man upstairs had gone out and the plumber couldn't get into his flat so there was nothing he could do. I called the letting agent back who was in another town by then and couldn't get here with the keys in time but he suggested I call the landlady, who is currently out of the country on holiday.

So the water is turned off upstairs but nothing has been fixed yet and our electricity is turned off in the bedroom. There is nothing that can be done in our flat, they need to get to the pipes upstairs. In the meantime the bed is dripping wet all the way through to the mattress because I only discovered it by accident, it must have been raining for ages. I am going to sleep on the sofa and WaSp in his chair, we can't do anything but wait now.

Happy New Year! I'll be in the fort.
