Sounds like he is manipulating his mother as much as he is trying to manipulate you, tea. I am happy you value yourself more than continuing a relationship with him.

Urgh Tea, FOH's Mum's text is below the belt!!!

I agree with the others, it's just yet another sad ploy to make you the bad guy. Don't feel bad. He brought ALL OF THIS on himself. You have done nothing wrong!

Good luck for the interview Melly!

How cool about the comedian course Ginger! I imagine it'll be a good general 'public speaking' kind of course too, which is always useful!

    oakdene,

Of course you are struggling - anyone would in your circumstances. I am glad you found our thread.

Give me two great (small) things that you are going to do for yourself this year....regardless of what else happens in your life.

Tea, you showed plenty of compassion over the - what was it? ten years? Putting up with being cheated on, having a landmark birthday ruined; for any one of those things you could have left him.

Penguin The miscarriage thing, though, :( words utterly fail me. What's also dreadful is that he hasn't acknowledged what a terrible thing he did to you, by swanning off on holiday, and even calls you unchristian for mentioning it? There's a huge difference between having Christian feelings of compassion and letting someone wipe their sh1tty boots all over you. Well last night I ran 2 & 1/2 miles so that's something I guess.

You may wish to take this with a pinch of salt, given that I'm an atheist, but eight years of roman catholic education including confirmation has left me with quite a lot of experience of churches, priests and attending mass regularly. Yes, they are generally calming places, whether you have faith or not.

So, if FOH has discovered that attending church is a positive influence on his life then that's good for him, but it should be entirely about his faith, not something he is doing either (best case scenario) for you because he thinks that's what you want from him, or (worst case) as a means of prolonging his stalking campaign.

If he wants to pursue greater involvement with the church (general "the church" here as in an organised religion), then that's something he should be doing on his own, it doesn't need your involvement and trying to involve you indirectly by choosing the same church (specific building this time) is wrong, given how clear you've been about not wanting contact. You haven't to my recollection said which religion you follow, but they all tend to have plenty of churches dotted around, even my little village has a CofE church and there are several others within three miles, plus one or more of each of RC, Methodist, Quaker, Baptist in a similar radius, so it seems likely that if he is genuine, he could find somewhere else. Knowing that he has caused you distress with is recent action, avoiding you would be the decent, kind thing to do.

As others have said, unfortunately it seems like more of the same from him.

I can't run to save my life!

That's v impressive - just the thought of that makes me need a lie down!

Are you new to running? Sounds like it could be a great way to channel some of the 'aaaargh', if that makes sense.
