The thought of dinner even with people I know quite well fills me with dread. How people manage that for a first date is beyond me! Like you say ono - something you can run away from if needs be :rotfl:.0

I'd agree with that ono, because if you meet someone you have nothing in common with, even one drink can be agony.
Tea, text him and ask him for a coffee.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -

That's just reminded me of a story involving someone I used to work with and D's brother!
When I first joined the company and this woman found out D's surname (we weren't married then) which is fairly unusual, not that common, she asked if I knew G. I told her that he was D's brother and she was like "ah right, I went out on a date with him once", I was like "did you? Tell me more!" So she told me how they went out on a date, she didn't fancy him or really get on with him, the date wasn't going well, so she went to the bathroom in the restaurant and did a runner through the window! :rotfl:0 -
At least it will be free, welly. That helps.Georgiegirl256 wrote: »I
A trip to Denmark you say Pyxis? Something I've never thought of, but hey I'm up for anything! (Almost anything!)
We could always go to Sweden or Norway or Finland or Iceland........onomatopoeia99 wrote: »It would be extremely unwise to regard me as typical of how men in general approach dating!
Doesn't have to be a typical view! It proves there are men out there who don't fit the stereotype. That's good!
I'd prefer to go for tea/coffee or to a pub simply for the opportunity to talk in a situation where either person could leave at any time, going to something like a talk or a film you can't talk to each other so much and you're pretty much stuck there, same with dinner.(I just lurve spiders!)

The poor guy! Sitting there, wondering, then worrying in case she was ill, and perhaps asking a waitress to go and check the loo, and then the dawning realisation................

Well you lot have changed your tune - what happened to "if he's interested he'll be in touch"?! :rotfl:0

Tired now

I've had very limited experience of dating sites.....in fact the only ones I've had were pre-internet and from the local paper.
One was just a chat on the phone, then I chickened out.
Another seemed to go very well and we met up a couple of times, but then I saw a momentary display of temper which rang warning bells, so I knocked that one on the head.
Then I had two where on the first meeting, the guys talked constantly about their last disastrous relationship and barely asked me anything about myself. Groan.
Then I replied to one from a cross-dresser, but it became obvious he was looking for a girly-girl who wore makeup, high heels and dresses, which isn't me at all!
After that I gave up.Well you lot have changed your tune - what happened to "if he's interested he'll be in touch"?! :rotfl:
That was before we knew he had texted you on Saturday!(I just lurve spiders!)

Oh I think it's so mean to do a runner out the back door/window!
We have an office in Denmark (sadly I'm not important enough to have to visit) and apparently it's fabulous. Very family friendly hours, fantastic canteen, proper coffee and Danish pastries available in the office all day. Miles different to our grotty offices! The men who come over from there for business... phwoar! One of the women on my team actually got with one of the Vikings and has now transferred to the Danish office and living over there, it looks wonderful!
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Ah but he only texted me on Saturday (and Friday) in response to me texting him first. Whereas for the week and a half before that he'd been contacting me first everyday. From which I have obviously concluded that it's just a pity-text and not meant to be.0
