Fly, that paying back the fees if you leave for any reason seems to me to be very unreasonable.
It's not just about you walking, but if they reckon they can charge you if they let you go, or you have to leave due to accident, ill health or any number of other reasons, that could potentially be very unfair.
Fwiw, if they'll let you work from home one day a week, I find those days more productive than when I'm in the office with other people.
However I'm probably not the best one to make suggestions - my last attempt at renegotiating a contract led to an informal job offer not turning into a formal one. Which in hindsight turned out to be a good thing.

Sibling is a university lecturer - can ask them about processes to follow to put things right, if you think it would help?

Failed. I don't think I'll ever get through it without crying. Somehow without any words, they manage to show the entire adult life of a couple in and how much they love one another but never achieving their dreams. It's beautiful and so heart-rending

    It's a wonderful film.

  • Melly, I can't offer any advice, just wanted to say how brave you are.

flybaby, the agency fees thing sets alarm bells ringing, as do nine hour days - 27 hours is not really part time, it's more than 75% of a normal working week. Sounds more like they aren't employing enough staff! All in all sends out worrying signals, though I know nothing of the industry you work in so have no basis for comparison.

My knowledge of HP trivial clearly is not as good as I thought as the last few questions have defeated me!

Elsien - thank you - yes those are my concerns too. One thing I am sure about is that I won't be taking the job with that clause in it, so if they are not prepared to remove it, my decision is made as no one can plan for life little gems. Thank you for kind offer regarding sibling, I may PM you on that one if that's ok?

Code - you put it perfectly!

Ono - thanks for your thoughts too. Just talking to you guys about it is making it clearer, as I am reading what you are all writing and thinking that if I was giving my opinion on this to one of you I would be saying the same thing - alarm bells, proceed with caution.

Right.......... I shall stop hogging the board now........thanks to all and apologies to anyone having to "catch up" because of my silliness.

They don't quite achieve everything they want but they are happy with what they have and their lives are built on a solid foundation of love. :)

As a wise person once said..."UP tells a better love story in ten minutes than Twilight did in four films."

(And I didn't just cry the first time I watched it. I howled. Have any of you watched The Fault in our Stars?)
