I decided I'd penguin this - psychological abuse and neglect

My father has a total mistrust of anyone in authority so he usually dissuades her from going to the doctor (even after someone - not my father - gave her a black eye and tried to strangle her). I have very little respect for both of them in that respect; him for his lack of caring - he can't help a natural lack of empathy but he can learn 'rules' for certain situations, and her for her own lack of self-respect and self-responsibility. I know all the arguments about abused women, but I also agree that it has an element of choice to allow the abuse to continue, particularly when witnessing it or the aftermath affects future generations. That said, they are both much better than they were.

Eugh whiskey. Haven't been able to drink that since very much over-indulging when I was all of about 15 :rotfl:

It is rude code. It's not difficult to send a text! It's not like you're sitting there waiting for a butler in a horse drawn carriage with a gold rimmed thank you card.

Actually, yes. I want this! :rotfl: If I ever win the lotto I'm going to have all my correspondence delivered this way.

I always fancied paying for something with one of those massive cheques, but for something ridiculous like a £20 gas bill :rotfl:

Yes, but you take it their HQ and refuse to hand it over until a photo has been taken of you handing it to a senior member of staff with a handshake. :rotfl:

Do they give you a smaller one or do you take the oversized one to the bank?

I think I read somewhere that the oversized ones are free and for charity/presentations only ie newspaper mileage and that an actual cheque goes thro the banking system.

    Oh that's disappointing.

Back to the carriage then. I think 4 horses and a coachman as well as the butler. I think I've found my life goal.

  • Hi again, may I enter the fort please? I come laden with Lindor, Mexicana cheese and JD. I just feel a little odd, that's all...

    PENGUIN

It's been such a grim day for deaths.

Lemmy, John Bradbury, Pavel Snricek and Guru Josh (of all people). I feel really sad thinking of their families as deaths around this time of year change Christmas forever. I know I'm probably just over-projecting or something as my own Dad died at Christmas and it's never been the same since.

Of course, none of these deaths were anyone's fault and they couldn't have been prevented but I still feel sad. I'll snap out of it soon, I just needed to get it off my chest. Thanx for reading if you got this far!

    END PENGUIN

Georgiegirl, I found that the "firsts" were the worst but over the last 6 years, I have found that I don't think of Dad any less often but when I do, there are a lot less tears and a great deal more smiles than at first. I do realise that this sounds like a cliche though...

Code, I do agree that it's bad manners. Especially in this day and age when all it takes to say thanks is a few clicks. I'd be tempted to say yarbles to the lot of them and just give vouchers next year.

I'd be tempted to put a giant stamp on the massive cheque and actually send it to the bank.

There's a chance I need to get out more :rotfl:
  • I love that idea of all correspondence being delivered in a horse drawn carriage! :and

Talking of lottery wins, I've just won £40 on a scratchcard! :j
