I will try to get on Christmas day (are we still having a Christmas party? :D ) but if for any reason i don't i want to wish each and every one of you a wonderful Christmas. Whether you're spending it with family/friends/or even if you're having the day to yourself (although you'll have everyone on the thread with you so you're never alone :) ) i hope you enjoy it.

I know it can be a difficult time of year, with mental illness, or any other illness, it doesn't magically disappear for christmas and i know many of us with still have our struggles (i've spent the last 6 years or so experiencing depressive episode at xmas so i understand it can be difficult) but we shall get through it, as we always do.

I know a lot of you have a had a hard time recently, and those thoughts will be at the back of your head during this time, but i hope that you can still enjoy the festive period as best as you can.

And at this time of year, several of us have loved ones who are not with anymore, but i like to think they'll be there in spirit :) Try to think of any happy memories you have. They will be missed but never forgotten.

One last thing, thank you all, everyone, whether you've been here from the start or whether you've joined us recently, for being amazing. This thread is a community and i am so lucky and blessed to be a part of it <3 xxxxx

code.......I used to have problem with a sock monster too, but a wise friend explained to me that my problem was my concept of a "pair" and funnily enough, as soon as I decided that it was perfectly ok to wear an orange sock and a green sock (one sock on each foot is all you need for a pair!) the sock monster went away and I have no problems anymore! I also banished my hubbys sock monster by replacing all his plain black socks with black socks with a bright pattern on then for easy identification and pairing - he got black socks with the muppets on the ankles a few years ago and he still comes down some mornings and sings the appropriate song whilst wiggling his toes at me such as kermits song or animal or fuzzy bear noises. ( Apologies for the ramble, even for an insomniac 3am can be frustrating and I am fed up of researching remediation strategies for bromate contamination in acquifers, socks seemed like a much more fun topic...........)

    MessedUp, what a lovely post!

You have a sooooooper Christmas! You deserve it, you really do! And congrats on being Bread Champ! You can raise the baton high now! :D;) You obviously don't make any bloomers, or get a cob on with the customers!
Have a lovely time! and roll on New Year! :D

Code, you needn't be 'jealous'! :D;) Do you know, I'd far rather be enjoying Christmas like I used to, and be with people who love me, but it's not to be, so this get-away is just that, a get-away from feeling a horrible loss and emptiness, and is an attempt at compensation for the lack.
However, it's a very poor substitute for spending a jolly Christmas with people who know you well.

Still, it does mean I can tick Greece off the list! :D
And I know how to say masturbator and hello sailor in Greek! :rotfl: :rotfl::rotfl: you priceless lot!

Oooh! You are awful! (thump) But I like you! :D

I'm not particularly looking forward to tomorrow. I'm not dreading it, going to parent and it'll be fine. But it'll be too quiet.
I'm not religious so that part doesn't have any meaning, so I like going to siblings where there's bustle and people and kids, More like childhood Christmas where the house was so rammed full of extended family that the telly ended up in the bath . But not possible this year.

Will just have to rely on Gitdog to liven up proceedings instead.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

I am sure gitdog won't let you down, elsien!

I am happy. For the first time in ages, the three people I love most dearly are under my roof at the same time, still sleeping soundly (and hopefully sleeping off their colds).

Thank you for writing the above MU :) it is beautiful, infact the whole post is beautiful :A As you all know it's my first Christmas without my Dad, we lost him on the 29th, and well, I've been feeling it a lot lately :( Reading the above just brought a tear to my eye (in a good way though) and yes, I'd like to think he's with us in spirit too. :)

Have a wonderful time at swains. You totally deserve it! :)

Ditto to your last paragraph! It's such a wonderful, helpful, caring community. Big dodgy group hug people! :grouphug:
  • We usually go out for Christmas lunch. We have done it most years ever since I was little. This year we can't face it, so I'm cooking Christmas Dinner! I've never done it before, but I figure how hard can it be? :p Ach it'll be right!

Still managed to forget a few bits, so will have to pop out later for them.

Well done on the interview going well code! When do you find out whether you've got the job or not?
