Welly - penguin reply
everything you said sounds completely rational for what you are going through at the moment..........I think every new mother thinks very similar things. You are completely and utterly normal!!! My sister said all of the same things and more when she had her first...... I remember when I first went round to visit and her husband went out of the room and she grabbed me and said "I have no idea what I am supposed to do with that F**king thing!"..........she was sleep deprived, hormonal, panicked, hated the lack of control, had totally had enough of being pregnant by the time it eventually popped out, had a horrid birth and her hubby was all goo gaa and lovey over the baby and thought the world was perfect and she was ready to strangle him........so, just as you say........the books and talks and lessons don't always tell it like it is! After 6 weeks or so of hormones levelling out a bit, getting some sleep and hubby having the situation explained to him ( oh yes, you think the world is awesome and you are off down the pub to "wet the babys head" - oh no I don't think so! kind of chat) she started to bond and they are now close as can be. And her other two were absolutely fine.
You CANNOT fail at this - you show me the instruction manual for kids? show me the parenting exam? You will just do it your way and your way will be just fine..............
As for little sod - try getting a baby doll and fussing over it, dressing it, changing it, cuddling it and generally treating it like a baby and telling little sod to be gentle etc.......... I know that's what my sister did with her first one with their two dogs to get them used to the baby idea.
Super big squish for you - you are so brave!0 -
Just been out walking Little Sod as had no sleep and was winding myself up. Feel like running away, not coping with this at all well.
On the plus side, the sun rise was lovely0 -
Hugs for welly.
I think my spoilt brat wah wah my holiday is over strop is down to having to go back to work. I used to love my job but everything has changed and I've realised that only the 'popular' people get the promotions, even if they're rubbish at their jobs. So I've stagnated somewhat and the idea of the projects I'll be working on when I get back fill me with dread. I want to change jobs but they've been really understanding of my medical condition and I don't want to drop my limitations on another employer until my condition has stablised. Also, I think I'm done with IT. It doesn't make me happy anymore but I have no idea what I want to be when I grow up. Plus, I earn more than DH and we need the money I bring in to pay the mortgage and bills. I feel like I've trapped myself in this cage and I can't see a way to change it.
Bah. Stupid work. I shall just hope for a huge lottery win.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -
Hugs (((Welly))) Btw, do you prefer to be called Welly now? I've still been calling you Katy! Hope today is a better day for you x x
Hugs (((Code))) D works in IT, and he's becoming increasingly sick of it too. The company he's at isn't a very good one to work for.0 -
Just having another big sort out (charity shop, eBay, tip) and D had about 8-9 jumpers that he'd got for Christmas off his brothers, Mam and me, that he'd never even worn....who'd have thought 5 jumpers would sell for £90?! One guy bought them all.
Found a limited edition Marshall Amp DAB radio that I'd bought D when it was reduced cheap at work. He's used it about twice at most, checked on eBay and they're going for about £150!
All more money for $$$!0 -
Mine used to be a good company to work for but now because of government cuts, it's poorly paid as we haven't had a payrise over 1% for 5 years. I earned more in real terms 6 years ago than I do now. Also IT has changed for the worse over the last 5 or 6 years which means we're more constrained than ever before which makes it difficult. Also there's a senior management expectation that because people are more technically literate now, that anyone could do our jobs, completely ignoring the years of specialised technical training we do. Just because someone can use Excel does not mean they can write a complex script. Rant over.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0

Hmm eBay. I have about 6 dresses to sell. They're like prom or bridesmaid dresses. One is actually one of my bridesmaids' dresses that was never worn as one of my bridesmaids did not fit into the size she said she was, so I ordered a bigger dress. At the last moment she crash dieted into the smaller one. Not sure now is the right time to list them though.
Well done on your haul though! That's fantastic.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -
Exactly what you've wrote above is what D always says. They've employed all these people (a lot in India especially) who just haven't got a clue what they are doing and instead of making the work load for those in the UK less, all it does is increase it.
A lot of people (including him) in the company that D works for took the company to court (due to something about pay rises, can't remember what exactly), it went on for years, eventually got a fairly big payout.
Regarding eBay, I always list things on a BIN (make me an offer) price. I find things sell better that way.
You could try listing all the dresses as a bundle perhaps? I'd list them, you've got nothing to lose!0 -
I was planning on listing them, but wondering if I should wait til a couple of months before prom/wedding season in the hope that demand will push the bidding up.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0

What colour are they? They might be good for someone having an Autumn/Winter wedding? When do proms take place? Isn't it like May/June time?
I sell stuff on Vinted too. They've just starting letting you sell make up/toiletries etc (new obviously), and I have loads from getting beauty boxes etc. Anything I earn on there I use to buy new clothes etc, or if I sell quite abit, I cash it out. It's coming in handy atm to buy holiday clothes.0
