see......... I do so little hoovering I can't even spell it!!!!
    Utterly poopy day!
  • Squishes for you Flybaby. Remember that when you do achieve things you manage loads, garden renovation with a torch is beyond the call of duty! My days fluctuate very much too, some days for example I will say to WaSp that I want to try cooking a new meal and he will supervise me while I bury myself in a pile of flour and other days I fail at making a cup of tea. It is ok not to manage things every day, when I was at my most depressed I made an agreement with my therapist to wash my tea mug out once a day, that was it. As long as I could do that I could feel proud and we slowly built up from there.

Don't be hard on yourself, you really are doing so well.

Flybaby I agree with WaS you do have productive days. Maybe a little to much and then it mentally and physically wears you out.

I need to be better. Its been a week and half since I gave the bathroom its mega clean. But I have wiped down surfaces and sploshed bleach down the loo every few days. But I need to do a another mega clean including the shower tray and plug holes.

I love watching the soda crystal foam when you pour vinegar on them :rotfl:

washing up I am ok with as not made anything dirty the last couple of days.

I agree with WaS just need to do one little bit. I need to do a little bit each day. Maybe 10 mins each day of decorating or the garden and then after 10 mins carry on for another 10 mins if I feel like it. knowing that I can stop at any time.

    Sounds like a plan.

That is a really good plan Calley, and exactly what I agreed to when a CBT therapist and I worked out a rota for me to follow to control my OCD. I would have different tasks on different days but only carry them out for 10 minutes at a time. Then I had to sit down, maybe read a magazine, listen to music, watch some tv and relax totally for 10 minutes. Then I would go back to the task for another 10 minutes. It stopped me obsessing over one thing and also meant if I was fearful of doing something that I would know it would stop after 10 minutes and I could get myself together again.

When things were very bad we broke it down into even smaller sections of completing tasks for as long as it took a kettle to boil. As soon as it did I was allowed to sit down and have a coffee as a reward. The little and often approach saved me from being in an almost totally non-functioning state. It worked very well and it is definitely worth a try. You thought of that without even hearing it from a therapist. Be proud, people go on training courses to be taught that!

I would take the credit but I can't.

I am on a couple of e-mail lists to websites about being positive and things like that. And I pretty sure I read it on one of those. Or even on this thread.

I would love to run my own business but know that it will never happen as I just not very good at motivation and need the structure of a job. I know someone and he works full time, runs a very successful business in his own time and has a few week old baby.

I have no idea how he finds the time let alone the energy to do. He is under the age 30 of though LOL!!!

  • Wow, I am impressed, too! I toyed with the idea of running my own business too but memory problems aside, like you say I wouldn't have the motivation to continue it. Either that or my OCD would kick in and I would be awake for 24 hour stretches obsessing over every last detail. My brain has very little middle ground, it is either all or nothing.

I don;t know how easy they are to find but what about job that was largely working from home? Where you would have an employer to chase you up to make sure that you got things done but you set your own day to day structure? Kind of the best of both worlds? I would imagine a lot of people would enjoy that though so the work is possibly hard to come by.
