Having a tough day today. Escapette is screaming each time I go near her, yet settles nicely for my mum.

Children are !!!!!!s like that. littlewing cries for daddy if I am there, mummy if daddy's there or brother if we both are there. We were at Grandma's on Saturday so she cried to Grandma that mummy and daddy weren't letting her talk, even though she had things to say. (She had not stopped talking for over an hour).
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.
  • Gosh, you lot are sooo clever! I can never remember anyone's birthday!

Bad planning here as it falls on a fast day :o I may as well persevere until tomorrow now! :D

Church was lovely last night. Everyone made us feel very welcome indeed. Some of them remembered us from the last time we were there, and we had a good crack and a laugh :)

The vicar who did my Dad's funeral took this service alongside his wife who is also a vicar. They've got a very calming way about them, and the man vicar came and sat with us afterwards (there was tea and biscuits) and remembered that I did photography!

We all went up and lit a candle for our loved ones and then they turned all the lights completely out, just leaving all the candles twinkling away on the altar....it was beautiful :) Really symbolic. Whilst this was happening, the lady vicar read out all the names of our loved ones.

It really was a lovely service, and they couldn't have made us feel more welcome, unlike the church my Mam used to go to (but that's another story) and now she's thinking of going now and again.

    Glad it went well Georgie

My mums memorial service is on the 5th Dec but I can't go as it's too far away and starts too early it's in Inverness at 11am and all the trains, flights and buses get in well after this :( I might just take myself off to church to hear mass or something just to mark the occasion

HBS sorry to hear of your loss hope you're ok

I'm feeling a bit better today had a very relaxed weekend

That might change though have to spend the day at the Birmingham Christmas Market with my MIL so keep me in your thoughts and if you hear of someone losing their mind in the West Midlands that'll be me :rotfl:

I'm doing a few things to keep myself busy this week as it was the week my mum was meant to be coming down to visit me so it's a bit of a crap time as this was always our week. We would do our Christmas shopping at the weekend watch loads of films and just have some quality mother and daughter time.

I had a complete breakdown in Clinton's yesterday as I started looking for a Christmas card and it hit me so I went and got a hot chocolate and had a good grizzle.

Me & my brother are seeing each other for the first time since the funeral in 2 weeks time to go to my grandparents diamond wedding anniversary. We are looking forward to seeing our grandparents but not the extended family I'm hoping we will just be left alone I can't be doing with all the sympathy ect

Feel a bit sorry for my brother though he is vegan and my nan asked the restaurant if they could do him something to fit in with this and they said they could. We have been given the menu option and there is nothing my brother can eat. He is having a prawn cocktail no prawns or sauce so basically lettuce and a Carvery no meat or potatoes so just veg lol So i've told him i'll sneak him off to get food after. As much as he drives me insane I'm still his big sis and have to watch out for him ;)

WW i saw that with the cats had me giggling someone on the Daily Mail said that the police had posted back a picture of cat food to thank all the cats for their help is that true? It's nice that people can find humour when the World is dark sends a good message that we won't be beaten.

We are meant to be going to a concert on Saturday at Wembley and there are rumours it may be cancelled as they had to cancel a show yesterday in Milan I'm hoping it won't be I need a good gig to cheer me up :T

Happy birthday JM! Are you doing anything nice?

All Christmas presents bought, just handmade ones to do now. Christmas cakes and blackberry vodka made for hampers but need ideas of other things to make.

WW, inspiration please! I need to make gifts for parents, siblings, and in-laws

Few years ago I made some biscuits and put them in a pretty jar for the in laws. Or if any of them like baking you can layer the jar with the ingredients and get them to do the work :D

I've just had a couple of hours of parent stressing about ER in hospital.
Parent tells me ER is receiving poor day to day care, is there "voluntarily" but ER has been told they're not free to leave although there doesn't appear to be a DOLS applied for/in place. So apparently being detained illegally. We now have a long list of issues to query first thing in the morning and my head is spinning.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

I tell you what else has surprised me - parents complete lack of understanding of mental illness. I don't know if it's a generational thing, but parent's only concept is that of a "nervous breakdown" which seems to equate to depressive type episodes. Delusions and psychosis etc are completely alien concepts, so to have a relative with some major delusions going on has knocked parent for six. I guess it would anyway, but complete ignorance isn't helping. Is that lack of information usual for the older generation, would you think?

Elsien - aside from reading up on the rights of ER, there isn't much you can do tonight, so go and stroke gitdog until your head stops spinning, then prepare for battle making sure to have a good night's sleep first.

Welly, I am making biscuits (possibly gingerbread men) and there's a cool way to make a package out of a paper plate that looks quite good. I am also making spiced, caramelised nuts. My parents are getting bags of sweets and 2 of the brothers are getting crisps and peanuts.
