Oh, JM, the AmDram isn't going to Venice! It's a Monteverdi festival! The AmDram almost, but not quite, coincided with it! I'm AmDramming again all day and evening tomorrow, then leaving at 5.30am Sunday for Venice!
WaS, don't feel guilty for shouting - you did exactly the right thing! What a bar steward! And don't worry about your computer, as you didn't give him access to it, so he can't have got into it.(I just lurve spiders!)

Thanks Piggles, first costume of the year for her tonight!
And she only woke once during the night, I feel almost human!!
Well done WaS, hopefully he will think more about trying it again on someone else. Elderly relatives keep getting caught with scams like that. They've lost a fortune over the years0 -
I got one of those calls the other day saying Windows on my computer had a problem. I surprised myself by saying calmly "Oh, that is interesting as I have an apple Mac!" (I don't

I don't believe it........!
Wassy, did you just say, 'how dare they try that with me?!
Are you valuing yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Brilliant!
Thank you everyone for comments on my post. It is helping. I actually have got my notes out of the house for the time being so I can't look at them obsessively. I feel better for doing that.
(Funny that in 1991, I weighed 9.5 stone, according to my notes, which was well within normal bmi. Yet I felt as fat as I am now. It is quite sad how much I beat myself up and for how long. To me, it shows how important the family environment is.People outside this arena can encourage and advise but it is so difficult to change things as an unwell youngster remaining in that environment. lol, I still blame my parents, so I obviously have unresolved hostility, lol.)
In actual fact, I feel good today.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Morning My Lovelies,
Still chocked full of cold and coughing most of the night. So feel crappy.
Any way because me and my husband have been so lax seems that we have now created an issue that is going to cost money. Looks like because we have not transferred the house in to my name there is going to be a capital gains tax to be pay Oh chuff!! No idea how much that is going to be!!!! And it seems that the house value has risen by approx £40K since he left.
I also need to save up £40K to pay husband off. he did not want me to get a mortgage to pay him off. As he did not want the money now.
So need to get my act together as I wanted him to have it 13 years time when he retires at 65.
One reason never to procrastinate it cost you money
Oh well never mind only money. And could be worse.
Also funny that someone mentioned about not being to donate financially. I feel the same I want to do something that is lasting and not just money. But no idea what to do as I want to make a difference in the world.
Yours

Squirrels! There are two squirrels in the huge tree opposite our living room window! This makes WaS very happy!
Good morning all! Thank you for the lovely comments, I still feel a little shaken but a little proud as well that I managed to stick up for myself and yell at a scammer. WaS doesn't ever lose her temper or shout at anyone, I am not sure what happened! It does really annoy me that people can do this because there are a lot of vulnerable people out there that wouldn't realise that it was a scam.
Once WaSp stopped laughing at me shouting he told me that if I had downloaded what the man had asked me to he would have locked my computer so that I HAD to pay him to unlock it (all under the guise of me being hacked). That's so awful.
I searched for the number and it is on Google as customer support for Yahoo Mail, Hotmail and WindowsLive, along with a lot of reports that it's a scam. Aren't they clever? They help with all 3 apparently. I am horrified that the number is right there on search engines, how many people must call it? Something really needs to be done about that!
I am still outraged as you can tell, the fact I am a paranoid mess most of the time anyway doesn't help. But hey, I defended myself so yay me!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Well done WaS. You did really well and hopefully they won't call again. DH actually made one of them cry once - for the record despite my complaints about him, DH is a rather sweet, patient and loyal man, but once he's riled up, stand back. We'd been getting those phone calls for months and when I was answering I was either telling them I run Linux which makes them hang up or I just put the phone down. But DH got annoyed and started telling the woman off. He asked her if she enjoyed ripping vulnerable people off and how she could live with herself. And WaSP was right. They'd have used the software to control your computer, infect it with viruses and lock it down until you pay. So you did well to tell them off.
Calley- here are some ideas how to make a difference. You could adopt a pet from a shelter - you can rescue cats, dogs, rabbits, ferrets, hamsters, exotic pets etc. That will be company for you and you save two lives - the one you rescued and the one who gets to take his place at the shelter. On a similar theme you could keep your eyes open for hedgehogs. If you see any small ones at night, weigh them. If they weigh under 650g they won't make it through the winter. If you see them or any out during the day, take them home, pop them in a box with a hot water bottle (and space to move away from it), give some wet cat or dog food and water and phone a rescue.
You could donate blood if you meet the criteria and don't already do it. Every donation saves 3 people. Plus it takes 3000 calories to replace the blood they take and you get free tea and biscuits. I sadly can't anymore as the drugs I'm on reduce white blood cells but I always felt really good about it when I did.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -

Don't be, they are criminals. Like code, I just say linux to make them go away. I'm pretty much at the point of ignoring the telephone when it rings these days, unless it's family though.
In other news, in amongst the "targetted advertising" found on some sites, in addition to the things it normally displays - stuff I have been looking at for decorating my house, bits of car I've looked at on ebay and other things which google analytics has tracked my interest in - I am now also getting Lindy Bop dresses :eek:Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -
Hahahaha! That made me laugh Ono, good old Google!
I have cheered up a bit and kind of see the funny side now. WaSp said it was the funniest thing he heard all year because I am usually so laid back. Hopefully they have taken my number off of the call list after that.
The house smells of pumpkin, I have baked a huge one which is cooling to make into a puree then it's pumpkin pie time! I discovered an alcoholic recipe...
ETA slight miscalculation on the pumpkin front, I have two mixing bowls full of puree and no freezer. Guess what we are going to be eating for the next week? I need to look up pumpkin recipes.
PS. I found an eggnog pumpkin pie recipe. Eggnog and pumpkin pie are two of my favourite things. I am happy.
