  • I have only seen the first released Star Wars film! I really should do something about that. I have however, watched every single Star trek episode and all spin-off's in existence probably several times and own them all. I can't believe I just publicly admitted what a Trekkie I am...
At least see The Empire strikes back, and when you get to the end of that you'll have to watch Return of the Jedi as well!

As for the Star Treks, I've watched all the films - love the two new ones although I know not everyone does, all the original series (BBC2 used to show them on a Thursday in the early evening when I was a teenager), all of TNG, all of DS9, most of Voyager, but one some of Enterprise.

Miri from the original series and Yesterday's Enterprise from TNG would be my favourite episodes. What frustrated me was that they were very much "monster of the week" with little continuity, between episodes, which is why I liked Blake's 7 more :D

Well, I'm currently working through all the Star Trek (Original Series),
Star Trek the Next Generation, and just recently Deep Space 9 repeats currently being shown on the CBS Action channel! Lovely!

Hope they restart Star Trek:Voyager soon.

Funnily enough, I never ever got into the Enterprise series. It was all too battley, and I never gelled with it, so gave up after a few episodes. Strange.

I know I've told you before, WaS, but at the 2002 Star Trek exhibition, I paid to have myself spliced into a snippet of an original Star Trek episode, with James Kirk! It was long before I'd done any drama, and I was very self-conscious, and it's just about the most hilarious thing you've ever seen! :rotfl: Excruciatingly awful, but sooooooo funny!:rotfl:

  • Blake's 7 was brilliant! As was Sapphire and Steel, I have all the series of those, too.

That sounds amazing, Pyxis! I would love to be spliced into a Star Trek episode! My favourite TNG episode is probably Schisms, a proper alien abduction experience.

    Here is the repost......

Here is the suggested THREAD ETIQUETTE. By following this etiquette, all posters, whether new or existing, will feel safe, unpressured and respected..

!!!But first...............please be assured..................................................................******It should be pointed out that if anyone is feeling very distressed or close to a crisis, they do not have to worry about what they are posting, or whether it is a penguin for someone else or not. (See below about penguins). In a crisis situation, just post! We wouldn't want anyone to feel that they couldn't ask for help in case it's a penguin! The penguin thing only applies to a general discussion situation.******

    - This is a thread for support. We have discovered some good friends on here, but we promise always to welcome and include new people, and not to be cliquey.

    - People may make suggestions to help each other, and might even ask if the suggestions were helpful or have been carried out, but we'll really try not to nag each other or put too much pressure on.

    - The normal board rules about sexism, racism, homophobia etc. apply, but if we are careful we should be able to discuss almost anything without breaching board rules - so far we have discussed subjects ranging from child abuse to incontinence!

-If someone thinks that too much pressure is being applied, they can post the trigger word PENGUIN and flag up the fact that they believe there's a potential for someone feeling too nagged to do something. ANYONE could post PENGUIN if they felt there was a danger that suggestions were being enforced too much.

Similarly, if they want to discuss something that might be a trigger for some people, then posting PENGUIN would be a warning that what follows in the whiteout might be a trigger.

    - So, if you think something might be a PENGUIN, please post something like the green bit which follows.

"Possible penguin about.........(type of trigger)" The trigger might be:- child abuse, marital abuse/violence, paranoia, stalkers, death, etc.

Then, when you post, repost the word PENGUIN above the discussion. Then post the penguiny bit in white! And the phrase END OF PENGUIN when you have finished.

It will look like this. You will be able to see the white text if you highlight it or if you quote it, (so please don't 'quote' a post containing a penguin onto the thread!)
    (Harmless example follows here):-
    PENGUIN

This is a penguin. A nasty, crotch biting penguin (CBP).
It isn't really! So you can look
    . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozGTv0hxhpc[/url]

    END OF PENGUIN

(NB on a tenth-page repost of the etiquette, you can see these penguiny words because they are white against the green 'quote' background. On a normal post, they will be white against white, and so won't be seen on the thread.)

IMPORTANT: It has been ascertained that some posters to this thread have found that there are certain subjects which act as triggers, precipitating a worsening of their condition.
To protect these posters, you are respectfully requested NOT to discuss these subjects on this thread:-

Religion. (Please note: it is recognised that everyone is entitled to their beliefs, and we respect those beliefs. It is only because of the fact that religion does act as a trigger for some posters, that we exclude it from discussion.)
N.B. Please don't even mention the name of the religion.

The afterlife. The reason for this is explained in this thread by one poster, and there will be others for whom this is a trigger.

We ask and thank you for your co-operation in this matter.

    .........:starmod:.....................................................................:starmod:................

!!!So, to reiterate..............******It should be pointed out that if anyone is feeling very distressed or close to a crisis, they do not have to worry about what they are posting, or whether it is a penguin for someone else or not. In a crisis situation, just post! We wouldn't want anyone to feel that they couldn't ask for help in case it's a penguin! The penguin thing only applies to a general discussion situation.******

    - More suggestions please.............We stress that we are suggesting that we AGREE some Thread Etiquette to HELP people who might feel anxious about posting, we are not trying to IMPOSE rules, just relating this to facilitating groups, so that people feel safe and able to participate as fully as they can.

Yes, I loved Sapphire and Steele! (I had a real crush on David McCallum, ever since The Man from Uncle!)

I never watched Blake's 7. It probably coincided with a time when I didn't have a TV! Yes! There was such a time! :D

Edit. Just checked! Yes! It did! For the first series anyway. Then I only had a little black and white set that someone lent me, and of course, no way of recording anything that clashed. Such hard times! :D

I had a crush on David McCallum too!

I have just done 20 minutes on the phone. WaSp's boots have holes in the soles so I thought I would take advantage of the 20% off deal. Everything went through without a hitch and I bought him a pair for £15, a major bargain, as soon as the deal started. Which then showed on my Paypal receipt as a payment of £226.01.

So I called Paypal who knew nothing about it and found the whole thing hilarious and told me to call Ebay. So I called them and got put through to a manager who at first found the whole thing hilarious, asked if I had bought Calvin Klein and said it was a programming problem that they would fix immediately. He then decided he should just go home because other calls were starting to come through about the same thing and he was about to be swamped.

I am now going to drink Ovaltine and try to recover from two phone calls. This is what I get for trying to save money.

  • Excuse me while I cling to your leg, Pyxis. The only thing that made it bearable was the people on the phone from both companies laughed their heads of at how ludicrous it was and apologised profusely. They were very nice and the woman from Paypal said she would have fainted if it had happened to her!

    Hi all :)

Sorry I haven't been around too much of late - its been super busy here. My MH hasn't been good and I haven't wanted to talk to anyone. Work has been super busy as well, and with buying a house, you can imagine!

    Penguin coming up:

I feel like I'm not coping too well with the move, getting well from the agoraphobia and I honestly don't know where to turn. I don't have a CPN, my GP is about as much use as a chocolate teapot (that's when you can actually get an appointment!), and I'm not entitled to CMHT as here you have to have a consultant make the referral. I just feel like I'm banging my head against a sodding wall, and it is making me a little depressed. I finished mindfulness therapy this week and have to wait two weeks before a new referral for panic therapy, but it feels like I am going round in circles. My anxiety stems from being physically assaulted and attacked very close to where I live now, one of the reasons we are moving. I had anxiety growing up and got better and had over a decade of being well, but its been two years now and I feel useless.

The prospect of moving a couple of days before christmas as well is pretty stressful in its own right, and its throwing me right off my stride.

I just feel like I'm whinging a little bit, but I'm so overwhelmed.

    End of penguin.

Hugs to those who need them :) Hope you've all been good, I haven't had time to read all the posts properly, but have had a quick whizz through. I love Star Wars and Star Trek, I couldn't choose a favourite; although I lean more towards Trek.
  • If I was moving when you are, I'd postpone Christmas (at least my Christmas) until sometime in the new year! I'd use the time off work to get the new place in order and unpack.

This doesn't work so well if you have children, who are all geared up for presents on the 25th.
