OS Daily Monday 20th Aug 2007

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 20th August 2007. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning. I have not been on here for a few days as I have been non stop working on the Newquay hotel fire. What an incredible mess that is. I am nackered now, but there is still lots to do.

The weather is terrible and so the whole town seems like winter. I see AMIE is coming down our way... ?

I have to get ready and get off to work. Hopefully things will slow down a bit today...

Have a nice one everybody....

    Good Morning All
Back to OS with renewed energy, failed Flylady last week, only lasted til Tuesday. I am going to beat the dust demons this week.
DH set the alarm wrong and was half an hour late for work, not a good start to the day but things can only get better.
DW done and dog looking anxiously at door - think he knows I need a brisk walk to kickstart the day ?

N9 - thoughts with those hurt in Newquay, terrible news.

It's a dry morning today - so at least I won't get soaked taking the dog out for a walk :D

Work today and tomorrow, then DD comes home Tuesday night and I have the rest of the week off :j I've enjoyed reading the "getting ready for winter" thread - and it certainly seems that it's on it's way

I didn't do DD's bedroom yesterday, I must do it tonight otherwise it will be a wasted opportunity (black bags are needed;) ).

Didn't have Moussaka for tea last night (as we had an Ulster Fry in the morning and was stuffed all day :o ) so that's on the menu tonight.

    Have a great day everyone
Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )

    Morning

Overcast, but dry here again today. Is it me, or is there a definite chill in the air :o

Made hobnobs and banana bread on Friday, the hobnobs were my second attempt and more like flapjacks than ginger snaps, however, dh says he prefers them crunchy, so will have to leave in the oven longer next time.

Kyle, wer are in Florida the same time as you, and I haven't started getting anything ready yet either - however, the Matalan and Asda sales have come in very useful ;)

34 items to pack and wrap for Ebay

Shepherds pie for tea, and I am cheating and using a packet mix :p

Hope everyone has a good day x

    Morning all
I have visitors arriving at about 3am, I'm hoping they remember their door key as I really don't want to have to get up & let them in, I'm sure I'll wake up as they are the noisiest pair ever, still it will be nice to see them.
I took hubby to the station at 6 & have made some flapjacks, I'll take some into work with me today & the rest I'll leave out for our guests.
I don't have to be at work till 9 so plenty of time to clear up the kitchen & lounge before I go, not sure how long I'll be there, last time it was meant to be 9 till 12 & I was there til 4!!
If I do get away from work early enough I'll pop to the butchers, but I'm not making any other plans.
Hope everyone has a good day.
    Hugs Hester

    Good morning all,

Feel's very much like autumn here today, I love autumn! Few plans today, general cleaning, lots of washing to get done so hope I can the clothes on the line, need to pop out and get some fabric softner or does anyone have any os ideas? my dd has eczema and is allergic to most softners other than Comfort.
Going to re-introduce dd's nap today, she stopped sleeping in the day a few weeks ago and its like having a 2 and a half year old teenager - she's hell! I need to carry on clearning out the study whilst she is sleeping, my dh has been doing it but he is a typical man and misses alot! Its going to be the new babies bedroom so I feel its important we get on with it quickly. This afternoon we're off to a mother and toddler group at dd's nursery so that will kill some time, she really enjoys it too.
My Dad has his heart surgery at 8am this morning, we took him to hospital and settled him in yesterday afternoon, he was fine when he left and every member of staff was lovely, they spent more time talking about my pregnancy than about his op though, I think my Dad prefered that - not sure I did. There was a lovely anaesthetist who had the most beautiful Irish accent, i'm sure I would have agreed to anything if he was asking!

    Breakfast: Cereal and toast
    Lunch: Sandwiches
Dinner: No idea, my H has bought a quiche Lorraine (i'm veggie) so he can perhaps have that with a baked potato,

    Have a great day all

Kyle, if you are flying into Orlando, you will be doing the double bag drop - if you have been before, you will know what I mean, and if not, then you will have fun ;)

  • Morning Guys!

Not a good night for me, so am resting up totally today.

OH & DD off into London today. They are going to free galleries and museums. They have free vouchers for food and drinks, so they should be ok with minimal spends.

WM has finished and OH will hang on airer before leaving. DW can go on later. Toilet has been cleaned. I have a few small things to do, but apart from them I am going to watch some TV and sleep.

OH has bought a ready meal in from the freezer but it looks awful. I think I will make some savoury mince with mash spuds......ooooo...shepherds Pie;) Also have some HM soup I knocked up yesterday:D

Anyway, have to go as my tummy is making growling noises.

Edited to say: I put an add on Gumtree last night and have had 2 responses both of which are Polish girls. I dont have a problem with that, but what kind of questions should I ask about working visas etx, or is it none of my business:confused: 1 seems quite local, but do I ask for an adress etc she says she has refs? I think I should have thought this through a bit better:o

    Hugs to all.
