My name was Dogbox on HPC back in the mid naughties.
I see they're still portending an almighty price crash. Many of us predicted the perma Bears would fail to buy in the next crash and sure enough....
But is it really that surprising that losers hang out together? If they mixed with normal people, they would stand out like a sore thumb as being dumb and/or a loser in life. At least in HPC they can talk to each other (albeit talking a load of bollox) without having to feel inadequate, and it is probably an escape from their not so good life of being an under achiever.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

YOu are so right there, it hyas ruined so many lives/finances/relationships
You then get banned for then deciding otherwise or trying to get on with your life.
The same sad people are now saying the crash will happen by 2025 some of them could have paid off a house in the time they have been there , rather than buying it for someone else,0 -

2025 sounds about right to me for the next correction, give or take a few years.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

It doesn't surprise they all hang out together (misery loves company) but it seems peculiar how those without a house are at ease with accepting advice from others who don't have one either.0 -
The website represents a really important global change. As QE inflates asset prices beyond the reach of a many, an important gulf is created . We see the birth of the rent class, owner class and multi owner class. It doesn't really matter how educated you are if you rent and your parents rent and you're middle aged, you are 'working class'.
Sadly it may represent the beginning of the end of any real hope for a meritocracy.
What's the solution though with differing nations States competing to out QE each other, I have no idea.Proudly voted remain. A global union of countries is the only way to commit global capital to the rule of law.0 -

That property has since gone up 60% Even if the price crashed, I've still saved the best part of £100k over renting.
I remember Blooloo from my time viewing HPC. What I particularly remember was her sense of entitlement of what she should be earning based on education and qualifications, and that she took offence of public sector workers were earning more than her 30K salary. I couldn't help but thiink that someone with a 30+ average daily post count on an Internet forum is lucky to still be in a job. I know I wouldn't tolerate paying someone to do that all day everyday.
Interesting calc about the saving in rent. The place I bought in early 2006 has had a modest 15% rise in those 9 years; however, like you, the real saving I've made is that the interest portion of the mortgage has never been more than £300, whereas it would have been about £850 a month to rent a similar place.0 -
@CrashyTime, have you had a look at my content, could you explain why I was banned?0

Trust me, they did you a favour by banning you.
Wear that 'banned by HPC' badge with pride, my friend, and never ever look back to that cesspit of misery, idiocy and despair.Don't blame me, I voted Remain.0 -

I'm actually trying to help the guy (Crashy and whoever else might read this) to understand how that site works. I would hardly classify myself as a housing bull (evidence my posts here) and not exactly a bear either. More a very cautious person. And yet when I posted on that site to try and challenge my own views as well as others, I got banned. Maybe if it helps them realise they are reading a completely selective view (as selected by the moderators) on that site, they'd be more willing to challenge their own.0
