Debate House Prices
In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non MoneySaving matters are no longer permitted. Hey Crashy, could you please fine out why I was banned at hpc? My username was MarkWeston.
I'm curious why they don't seem to enjoy posters who suggest if there is a correction it won't be by 50%.0 -

HPC should carry a health warning.
So many ruined lives/finances/relationships...:(Mkay so I accepted a mortgage offer yesterday morn. I know, I know. But despite my avatar, I've been on hpc since the early 2000s - long before fubra. I coulda/shoulda bought then. But didn't. Mainly cos of hpc. I'm on partner 2 since then (first left and found s/o less wedded to IT'LL ALL CRASH TRUST ME!!). She was prob right. Current partner has own house, bought w previous partner then bought out at limit of what was then financially possible when they broke up. She's been v supportive of my IACTM line, but getting more sceptical over past year. Long and short, I turned 47 last weekend and I want to have a place by time I'm 60.

There aren't hundreds of regular posters on HPC.0 -

You're an interesting character. Say there were a massive 10x the users on HPC. What difference does it actually make to the chances of crash or otherwise if there are 132 or 180 randoms on the internet spouting crap about house prices?
..but yes there are more nutters on HPC than here - you win.0 -

The nature of the debate on HPC draws far more views than this forum (the fact that it is a separate log in from the main MSE forum says it all really) although posters on here have knowledge and interesting views on investment in general, the inability to admit that UK property is in a credit driven bubble diminishes the credibility IMO.0 -

Too right. You should only trust people who say UK property is a credit fueled ponzi bubble. Does rather limit the pool of 'talent' you consider credible though.
It's not a separate login. It's just that you need to be logged in to see it that's all. Not sure it's anything sinister - MSE is primarily a consumer facing financial site - debates about house prices attract nutters on both sides and, I think, were spoiling the other, more practical, property related forums.
You like it here and I assume you've had no problems posting your POV?0 -

Too funny. The "other, more practical property related forums" seem to be full of people saying "Help me, did I make the right decision!" The basis of that is that they were somehow caught in a credit fuelled Ponzi. It is not the thinking of a "nutter" to see how the banks and media drove up the price of property in the UK, to benefit banks and to keep the sheeple feeling rich. My belief is that people who were banned from HPC were having nasty little flaming wars with other posters, or endlessly trolling with mis-information and spam.0
