he has finally gone , or could it be baiting ?0 -
On one thread he's berating out of towners (Londoners) for moving to the shires and pushing prices up. On another he's saying his goodbyes because he's moving to France where houses are cheaper.
They'll have something to say on HPC.fr0 -

I love people paying my mortgage
It means I have the flexibiity to leave the flat any time work falls through (subject to notice of course) and for us that flexibility is the overriding concern.
They have all the maintenance and insurance issues. This week they are coming to fit a carbon monoxide detector (another new piece of legislation they have to worry about).
I have no axe to grind as I'm also a homeowner, but people who say you should buy ALWAYS are patently wrong.
Would you advise someone working away for 6 months to buy?
Normally you wouldn't - unless they wanted to build up a BTL portfolio.
I'm not sure why this argument is still going on.
Buying is better if you are staying in one place long term, but that doesn't mean it's best for everyone especially in todays environment with economic mobility and job insecurity and I don't mean just the bottom of the career ladder - someone like say Mark Carney might only be here a couple of years.
Those who want to take a punt on the housing market (by not buying) are doing just that and so far it's not working out too well for them.0 -
todays environment with economic mobility and job insecurity
I've had continuous employment for 26 years (different company name from time to time due to acquisitions) and have many employees who've worked for me for decades. One guy recently left who was about to hit the 20 year mark, and this is in a fast-moving technology company!I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.0 -

Great.
If a friend was working in say Birmingham (random example) for 6 months and didn't know whether it would be a success longer term, would you advise them to buy a house straightaway?0 -
Buying doesn't make sense over such short periods, but most people don't drift in and out of jobs at the frequency you indicate.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
