Soon be 20 years since you sold at generational low prices to rent forever. Don't you ever wish you could go back and give the younger version of yourself a slap?
It's back to the future day today and I've got you down for the part of Biff Tannen - now make like a tree and get out of here.0 -

I can't stand the worry any more, so I'm going to bed, hopefully I'll recover and be back tomorrow.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -
Am I alone in having to have a weekly shot of visiting HPC to cheer myself up?
I'm sad for the posters there who have got it so wrong for so long (sounds like a song!) .... but I'm heartbroken for their families who have seen the families money disappear into the Rental Money Pit - never to be seen again.
While the wise have spent the same, but now sit on an appreciating asset - their home - a home they can do as they like with.
And, when they retire, what then? Most of the Pension will go into paying rent ... while those with homes they own will be downsizing and carrying away a pot of tax free gold to spend enjoying their final days.
To all who read this - renting is a losers game! Leave it to the deranged on HPC!Bringing Happiness where there is Gloom!0 -

to describe renting as a 'losers game' isn't classy, and is certainly inaccurate.
Folks rent for a variety of very valid reasons from living in an area temporarily to simply being unable to afford to buy due to personal circumstances.
It's deeply unfair to call such people losers.
Who are the losers, and the ones I feel zero pity for, are those !!!!!s on HPC and others here such as brit1234 or Crashy, who have been sitting on their hands since long before the Great Crash of 2008, waiting to pounce and prey on the misery of others when the world falls apart and mass unemployment and reposessions are the consequence.
Sadly for them that day will not dawn for many many years to come.
In the meantime though, brit1234s investment strategies do manage to give us all a well deserved chortle0 -
Renting really is a mugs game however I feel sorry for those who desire a home of their own but cannot raise the finances. As it's always better to pay down your own mortgage than pay someone else's. I really have no time however for the likes of those dirty liars over on HPC propagating their financially deadly germs daily trying to suck in and off the gullible that a 'crash is just around the corner.' How many times we hear that over on HPC Command from the likes of Bruce Spanner and his disgusting ilk.0

Oh dear, looks like it will be more than Hamish "rents are soaring" McDebtPile that will be looking for a final pill at crash time........:rotfl:0

I don't agree with the loser comments.
We have a high household income and a 5 bed house and enough to pay off the mortgage (stoozing it for profit right now).
A couple of years ago DH had a career glitch partly due to his seniority (there are fewer CEO jobs than shelf stackers).
He did re-invent himself and start a business but unfortunely not in our home area.
It's been going successfully for 2 years now with a high income, but because of the uncertainty we didn't want to buy in the new area (plus lack of books make it impossible to get a mortgage when you start self-employed).
I don't think people with high incomes, who own property and have largely successful careers are losers.
We just started up a business and faced some short term uncertainty.
It certainly isn't intellectually becoming to tar everyone with the same brush. We are certainly not deluded about house prices or any of the financial issues, but I wouldn't buy if I wasn't sure how long I was staying in one area.0 -

Only one slight problem with that thought process of course, and that's that there is no sign of a crash.0 -
