Worry ye not it is a fault,

    copy from their website:-

UPDATE fault 12 May - 30p UK calls
Unfortunately a fault has caused UK calls to be temporarily priced at 30p per minute. Obviously this is incorrect as we aim to be a price fighter! The fault has been rectified and all calls will be rebilled at the correct price! So there is no need to email us at this moment in time as all calls made at the incorrect price will automatically be reimbursed!

Yeah, I just checked my online bill and there were a few calls over and above 2p but they have been credited!

    Thanks for the update guys.

I made a call last night at 21:42 and definately got the 0p per minute message, I came off the phone 4hrs later (yeah yeah chatterbox!!) and went to make another brief national call and heard the 30p message!!
Of course I then had to check the online invoice. I discovered that I've been charged £31.26 for a 4hr1min call. Which works out at 13p per min not 30p.

I would guess the system fault happenned midway through my call and I have been charged for a proportion of it at 30p per min!!!

You should get a credit for that on your invoice.

Thanks for everyone's help on this.

It looks like, from the note that has been posted, that it was a glitch and has now been sorted out, with refunds to follow.

I'll still be contacting call18866 just to totally clarify the situation and find out what happened last night.

    Cheers

I made a call earlier and have just checked my invoice but it hasn't charged me for the call, just connection.

I was however surprised to notice several call charge increases over the last couple of months on both 18866 and 1899 so we're now paying 2p and 3p respectively for connections, instead of 1p and 2p, which I hadn't realised

I received this message from ORCHID today:

    >Dear Customer
    >
    >We've had reports this morning that Call18866 are charging 30p per
    >minute on calls to UK landline numbers using their cable breakout
    >carrier code 08081701701. Customers are requesting advice on how to
    >override the V4 routing or update their products to route over Call1899
    >instead.

So, was is it still a glitch, or is there more to it than that for Orchid to contact its customers.
Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????

Also I can't find the cost of calling UK numbers form 18866 cable's access numbers 0808.....& 0207..... Absolutely rediculous especially with the confusion they caused today. That's what is on their website:

    uganda (fixed and mobile) 9
    ukraine (fixed) 7
    ukraine (mobile) 15
united arab emirates (fixed and mobile) 15
united states (fixed and mobile) 2

    NO UK
Has anyone else received the message from ORCHID?

I still can't access the site. It says that it is down for maintainance. Has anyone else experienced this?
