I'm also having problems with 18866/1899 since moving house and changing telephone numbers. As soon as I dial 18866 or 1899 I get this recorded message "there is not a fault, to regain access to indirect phone companies you must cease membership of the light user scheme or indirect plus", it then gives a free phone No to call which is a BT custamer service No. This isn't anything to do with BT and 18866 can't solve the problem. Has anyone else had this problem or has anyone any idea how to solve it?.0

Try 0800 800 150 and see if you can get any sense out of them.Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").
They're - colloquial/abbreviated version of 'They are'
There - noun (location other than here e.g. "You can buy groceries there") OR adverb (in or at that place e.g. "They have lived there for years") OR adverb (to or towards that place e.g. "Go there at noon") OR adverb (in that matter e.g. " I agree with you there").0 -
Tried to make a UK phone call this morning using 18866. Was told it would be 30 p per minute! It was 0 p a minute last night!A shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist.

Can people keep checking - i've tried and i get the 0p/min.
Some questions
A. Are you being charged 30p even if it says 0p
B. Is the 30p/min message still there?
C. When you're being charged 30p/min is this just via the 18866 dial in number or are you using the full dial number?

I got that message today and ive been billed 30p per minute

I have not received the 30p message at all, i am on BT is this problem just with cable customers? Maybe they are being charged more for 08 access and are passing it on. Has anyone on a BT line had the 30p per minute?0

Yes, I'm with BT but have just checked and it's back to 0p per minute!0 -
HI ALL
not to worry this is from 18866 website FAQ.
UPDATE fault 12 May - 30p UK calls
Unfortunately a fault has caused UK calls to be temporarily priced at 30p per minute. Obviously this is incorrect as we aim to be a price fighter! The fault has been rectified and all calls will be rebilled at the correct price! So there is no need to email us at this moment in time as all calls made at the incorrect price will automatically be reimbursed!0 -

I wouldn't be so sure that BT putting the poster on the light user scheme was a mistake. I recently tried to switch my line rental over to someone else only to get a letter back saying that they couldn't do it because BT provides me with a service that they are unable to supply me with. Guess which service? Yep, the light user scheme. I've never been on BT's light user scheme. BT never informed me that they'd switched me over, either. When I asked them to do it two years back, they said they wouldn't because I was using another telecoms provider to make phone calls. Seems BT switched me over when I tried to switch my line rental.
EDIT: Should probably start a new thread about this, as I was told last night that BT are also being really funny with people who do manage to switch over line rental away from BT. They are putting them at the bottom of the list whenever they have a problem with the line, due to them no longer paying line rental to BT. Tesco is trying to negotiate a maintenance agreement with BT before launching its line rental package due to this very problem. In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

I am with BT, and have tried several numbers this morning, and they ALL said 30p per minute. I have told everyone I know who I put on to 18866 in case they hadn't realised. It just show how important it is to have the tariff message - you could easily run up a bill of ££££££££££££s without realising.0
