Finally got a pair of UGGS from Selfridges. Could anyone out ther tell me how they are cleaning/protecting them as noticed on e-bay that the proper UGG items are quite expensive?

I've got some Kiwi spray which was £2ish from Sainsburys. Its in a redish can with a black top. I spray mine every week or so, and it protects them from rain etc etc. As for cleaning them, Im not sure. Luckily, I havent had to clean mine yet.. theyve stayed OK, because of using the protector I think.

I have seen mentioned on this thread though that the best way is to clean them with cold water, and then pack them with something so they dry in-shape. Dont quote me on it though.. you'll have to read through to find out, or do a google search

Hi all, just back from Australia and thought I'd tell you about my Ugg experience! I decided not to but them because they are expensive over there. There are only 3 Ugg stockists in Sydney and they are hard to find. Ugg is the general name for sheepskin boots, it's like using the term 'hoover' for a vacuum cleaner. The three stockists were very knowledgeable but the prices of Uggs has gone up so they weren't as good a bargain as they could have been. Here's an idea of the prices:

    Ugg tall - £130
    Ugg short - £100
    Ugg Cardies - £100

They tell you that you can get the sales tax (10%) back at the airport, but you can only do this if you spend over $300 in store. The people in Sydney were bemused by people asking if the boots they were selling were 'genuine' as it's only us foreigners who are obsessed with the big G/Ugg trademark!

Thought I'd let you have my own Ugg Australia experience!
  • I would most def advise not to buy from Ebay.. I saw several pairs that looked like the REAL MCCOY. I messaged a few buyers about authenticity and got a few replies saying that they are good quality and genuine. They were all offering refunds excluding extortionate postage (Normally £10-£15) charges. I emailed one seller and got this reply:
    Hi there,
I suppose if you have any doubt in your mind about any of the Uggs on ebay then you should probably buy from a store you know that they are 100% genuine. I am assured by my supplier they are genuine but it seems you know more about the Ugg boots than me, I agree there are a lot of poor imitations out there, I'd hate you to be dissapointed with your purchase they're imported from China so they may be sleightly different!!!

I have decided to Chestnut Classic Tall order from ZAPPO.COM and get them posted to my sisters in NYC. They were ordered today for $154 approx £75.. I probably wont get them until I see her in July, but I feel better knowing that they are genuine. I got a pair of unusal print classic talls for the same price in December and they are gorgeous and 100 percent authentic.

I really dont know why EBAY are not looking at the fake UGG issue.

If something sounds too good to be true it normally is.

WENT TO LOCAL SHOE SHOP TO BUY PROTECTOR TODAY, BUT WAS TOLD BY LADY AND OWNER THAT YOU SHOULD NOT PUT ANYTHING ON SHEEPSKIN AS IT NEEDS TO BREATHE, IF MARKS/STAINS ARISE JUST RUB CLEAN WITH CLOTH/WATER OR WIRE BRUSH GENTLY. MAY BE OF USE.

Personally I wouldn't put a wire brush anywhere near mine!

I've had mine since before Christmas and sprayed them with a Kiwi protector spray. I've worn them practically every day - even in rain and they still look brand new. Every now again if its been really heavy rain I get a slight water mark on them. I asked on here and was recommened (by Mookie I think!!) to wipe them with a damp cloth up to where the stitching is and let them dry away from direct heat. I then use an old toothbrush and they look fab! Then give them another spray of protector spray.

I personally wouldn't be confident of going out in them without protecting them first. Especially considering how much they cost.

Well, Ive practically lived in my Uggs in rain, snow.. all weathers and Ive been using the Kiwi protector. They still look like new, so from personal experience, I'd use protector just to have peace of mind because mine dont have any marks on them at all.

I emailed Deckers a few weeks back to query about authenticity of a couple of sites, and here's the response I got today.. it was what I expected.

:T well done for getting them to name the trusted sites they actually supply to, I asked before but did not get an actual list of websites.

Does not seem to be many considering the amount of sites set up that have them which is worrying for any buyer.

I wish cozyboots would stop using fedex, that is the only downside of using them, fedex ALWAYS sting you for customs on uggs! At least UPS, Parcelforce etc is a lottery on charges where you can get lucky and escape them.
