My tall chocolate Uggs are ruined!
Went food shopping in Sainsburys today, got to the checkout and started taking the shopping out of the trolley and putting it on the conveyor, I lifted up a bottle of fabric softener and noticed it was leaking, it had gone on everything, went on my coat etc, carried on unpacking the trolley then noticed it had dripped on the toe of my boots a few times!
The checkout assistant called the manager, he said they will pay for the boots to be cleaned or for a replacemet pair of boots if they can't be cleaned.
They have taken all my details and told me to come back in with dry cleaning receipt or receipt for purchasing a new pair.
I don't know what to do. I am too scared to try and clean them as I don't want to make it worse and I am also a bit scared to pay £170 for a new pair in case they decide they aren't going to give me the money back after all. (My boots were £100ish from AD, but if Sainsburys are going to pay then I would rather just get replacements in the UK as it will be a lot quicker, I don't really want to be without them for 2 weeks or so as I wear them every day)
There is currently a big dry dark stain on the toe of the boots. They have been waterproofed a few times but it doesn't seem to have helped in this case.
My boyfriend thinks I should try and clean them as it will be less hassle than having to buy a new pair and getting Sainsburys to cough up. No idea how I should clean them though, or even if you can clean them? any ideas?
I don't really know what to do. HELP!0 -
For what it's worth if it was me I would go back and see the manager or whoever it was that offered the refund and explain to them the cost involved in replacement and see if they are still pepared to go ahead, after all it shouldn't matter to him it's not coming out of his pocket and I think Sainsburys can afford it!! Get him to make the offer in writing if your afraid of gettin lumbered with the bill.0

I told the manager that the boots were £100 from Australia and that replacements would be £170 from the UK if I can get any, he didn't seem concerned by the amount.
I asked for something in writing as proof that it had been reported to them, he wrote down his name, phone number and that he was branch manager on a piece of paper for me.
I asked if I needed to wait to hear from them and he said no we will wait to hear from you, bring in your receipt for the new boots and also the damaged boots and we will reimburse you.
I have wiped the toe of the boot with some cold water on a cloth, waiting for them to dry now but it doesn't look like it has made much difference.0 -
I wouldn't worry too much about getting your money back from Sainsbury's for new ones. It will be worth trying to clean them but if you can't I'm sure the manager is good for his word. My mum once had a dress damaged by an escalator in Woolworths. The dress was from America and couldn't be replaced, but they coughed up the £150 bill no problems, she kept the dress, had it shortened to the point of the damage and still has it today. The big chains are covered for things like this, it happens more often than you might think.

The only thing you can do is sponge them in cold water, if you do it a few times they will fade so if it doesnt come out first time then take them up on the new pair. I wouldnt trust dry cleaning them, i have never heard of dry cleaning ugg boots and its not in the care card that you can.
I agree I'm sure they can afford to replace them.0 -

The stain definitely hasn't gone, and is almost as bad as it was to start with.
So my next question is where can I get uggs in the UK? tall chocolate in size 5 or 6 and preferably online.
Mine are us8/uk6 but are a little big, so a size 5 should also be fine and may actually fit better.
So far I can only find them at ASOS.com in size 5 for £170. None on Amazon, Schuh, Soletrader or Office websites in size 5 or 6 as far as I can see.0 -
My lovely dad has given me some money to treat myself to something I really want, bless him.
I am desperate for a pair of chocolate short uggs in a UK 4 - I am sure that I have looked on every site mentioned on this loooong thread but can't find any anywhere! Does anyone know anywhere that is stocking these?
Thanks!0 -
I recently bought a pair of "Uggs" on Ebay which turned out to be fakes, I did all the usual checks, feedback etc but it turned out that the seller had falsely used someone elses account to list them so instead of coming from London as stated they came direct from Beijing. anyway to cut a long story short I contacted paypal who have sent me an email to say they are looking into it but it may be a possibility that I will have to get them certified by an expert to say they are fake and that paypal may want to speak with the expert over the claim. Anyone know who I would ask to verify this and has this happened to anyone else regarding a claim through paypal do they really get your money back ( i paid with debit card so can't claim from bank)
I got them on a buy it now and paid immediately but then had an email from ebay to say the listing has been cancelled due to fraudelent use of the account and not to send any money (too late)
Any advice would be appreciated.0 -

I think they would need to be sent to someone Ugg Australia for verification, someone on here sent their Uggs to them via MSE staff.
It might be worth asking this on the ebay forum as the regulars on there are very knowledgable about this sort of thing0
