Do you get customs duty with cozyboots, Mookie? And I wondered if you've already ordered if you've worked out how the kids sizes work! I was a bit confused on one website or another (I think it was cozyboots) saying women should "order 2 sizes down" in the kids sizes ... I'd need a UK5/US7 ...

And thanks for the info re the email address for pictures :T I just called Ugg UK (AMG group) and asked at the switchboard to be put through to someone because I had probs with a suspect pair of Uggs - and then I just emailed the pics to that person direct. I'll send more to the info@uggaustralia.com - thanks for that! :T

The kids come up big, but i ordered a US5 and i normally buy a US W6, both work out to a size 4 but the kids are slightly wider.

They havent arrived yet but we ordered some for my hubby's mate too, theirs are due to come today or monday so i'll see if they get charged. Once mine arrive i'll see if i do, they are coming by fed ex so i bet i'll get stung.

Let us know what the outcome is on your boots.

:kisses:Thanks to those who mentioned Hartings! I have just received my boots from them and I'm really pleased.

I ordered Black short Uggs £85 and Chocolate short Canterbury £55. They are both great although I think the Canterburys are a much better buy. They are almost half the price and the sheepskin is twice as thick. Quality is perfect. The soles aren't as thick as the Uggs but adequate. I would definately buy Canterbury next time. And no shipping or customs paid. A bargain!
:j :j :j

When I compare the Hartings Uggs against the aussiedirect Uggs I bought, all I can say is:

aussiedirect FAKE FAKE FAKE FAKE FAKE

I'm running out of space for all these boots, but you can never have too many boots!!! :rotfl:

Customs charges on kids boots.....

I posted a few days back but I have actually spoken to customs and they have told me that even on kids boots there is a charge of 17% duty and 17.5% VAT. I questioned that these were childrens boots for young children (size 10 so toddlers) and she got quite shirty and blunt in her reply - there is definately a charge. I said I thought they were VAT free and was told no and this was twice by 2 different departments, the first was C&E enquiries, the 2nd was another department that told me the rates I would have to pay!!

If their website states different could someone post the link. The thing is, although they are VAT free then you might still have to pay Duties (17%) and a handling fee (£13.50 Parcelforce isn't it?) so that would come out at around £22.

They have quite clearly cottoned onto the fact we are all off buying overseas and know who is delivering what.

I am joining Costco tomorrow so I will report back on what I can find there for you.

Another thing is - can people not post what sizes/styles they have bought and do not fit, just in case people have them sitting around waiting to return or stick on eBay (maybe this is against the rules). I am really struggling to find a kids 3 in black or chocolate......... ;)

hi pippa-r, i was thinking of getting the canterbury tall in chestnut as they are a great price :D but was waiting for some feedback on them first. Do they fit the same as uggs because on hartings website it says half sizes should order down with uggs but up with canterburys, i get a U.K 6 in uggs which are quite snugg but comfortable, should i get the same size in canterburys. I emailed hartings about it and they said to put my foot measurements on the order but don't really want to because by my foot measurement i should be a 7 in uggs (but i'm a 6) and don't want to end up the same with the canterburys and have them send the wrong size, already been dissapointed once with AD, and want to be able to wear my boots when they come this time, hope you can help, really want some boots, going on all day xmas shopping trip at end of month, would be great to go in my comfy boots:j

Hi sweetcake. I ordered size 6 uggs for me and size 7 canterbury for my mum. There is hardly any difference when you put them against each other. The size 6 uggs fit me perfect. The size 7 canterburys just feel slightly too big but not much. However, as the canterbury sheepskin is much thicker than the uggs, I expect they will feel bigger when they've been worn a few times.

As there's not much difference in size, I totally agree with hartings saying half sizes should order down with uggs but up with canterburys.

Well worth £55!

thanks for that pippa-r, still not sure what size to get, does your mum normally wear a size 7, like i said i wear a size 6 in uggs but my bare foot measures about 26cm so they only just fit to begin with (though they're not uncomfortable) but once they wear in they're perfect. Do you think i would be better with the 7 in canterburys or stick with a 6 same as uggs?
• It was £8 for VAT and customs duty and £13.50 for parcelforce's fee. If you look on the website for HMRC it says that VAT is payable on girls sizes over 3.5.

Just had my 'official' letter through and to clarify for the kids boots:

Import Duty £8.77
Excise Duty
VAT
Other
Parcelforce Clearance Fee £13.50
TOTAL £22.27

Sweetcake, after a detailed foot measuring season, I would recommend you definately get the size 7 in the canterburys. They aren't that much different to the size 6 uggs. My Mum is a smallish 7 normally and they just fit. I only have little toes and my feet are shorter than yours.

After all, if they aren't a perfect fit I think they'd look better with loo paper shoved down the end of size 7s rather than having to cut out toe flaps in size 6s. ;)
