  • Hi everyone - glad to see the forum is back up! I've been following this thread for ages and then ordered a pair of tall black Uggs from Australia Direct. I got them on the weekend and I just couldnt believe it. Briefly; they don't look like real suede on the outside and they definitely don't feel like the Uggs I've tried on before on the inside. I tried on several pairs of UK6 before I ordered - and these are small. The stitching is poor. They STINK - of what I think is a chemical colour fixing. They have a single ply "Made in Australia" label sewn in, Made in Aus swing tag and stickers on the soles. I couldnt get on this site to ask you guys your advice til just now - so yesterday I phoned Ugg and emailed them some photos. They say the genuine boots are NOT made in Australia, that the tag inside looked wrong anyway (being printed and single ply not what looks like embroidered and folded double?) and the smell is a bad sign of a fake! So with that and having tried on loads in shops like Schuh and Shoon etc before I ordered - I think they are definitely dodgy to say the least. And the paying the VAT and Duty - they were just marked "footwear, $20" ... I will email AD saying I want a refund - but I really am sick at having to pay the postage both ways for a pair of rubbishy fakes. Has anyone managed to get everything refunded? I went away for a few days and then came back when the forums weren't working so apologies if I missed a post which would answer my questions!
    :hello:Hello!
  • Hello again and PS! I was so sure the black ones from AD would be too big - when it was too late to change the order ... d'oh! ... that I ordered a choc pair from Hartings in a smaller size. Thought I could sell on the black ones on ebay - but to be honest having seen them, I just couldn't sell them as genuine Uggs. There are notices everywhere saying the genuine ones aren't made in Aus and I wouldnt want to rip anyone off - I also have 100% feedback which I wouldnt want to loose The Hartings ones havent arrived yet so I'm hoping I'm luckier with those!

Just thought I'd let everyone know how great the service from REI is. I placed my order on 23rd October.....my uGgs arrived today! Tall black genuine uGgs......no customs charges......total cost.....£94.67

When did you get the email saying they had posted them to you. I ordered mine on the 21 Oct and had an email saying they had been sent on Saturday. I'm hoping they come in the next few days. I feel like I'm expecting a baby everything is ready for the new arrivals a nice new jumper to go with them, cleaner, protector etc!! Lol :D

I too had the email on Saturday. I emailed them back to get a tracking number, but the International dept. is closed at the weekend. By the time I got the tracking number yesterday they were already here!:T
    Hope you get yours soon....:o
  • Can I ask how REI delivered your boots (was it Fed Ex?) and how long ago, it can take a few weeks for them to bill the charges through from them so I am trying to determine whether or not the duty charges are going to follow later. Can I ask what the declaration said on the package. Many thanks.
My boots came with parcelforce. I think they only deliver packages after any charges have been paid, so hopefully I'm in the clear :T. The declaration was exactly what I paid for the boots $127.49 (because of the 15% off voucher for signing up to their newsletter.....thanks Mookie:D ).
    Hope this helps:o
  • thanks rozmo.....that is helpful!;)
is there anyone else that has had uggs from hartings?
(not that I dont believe yours are genuine rozmo) its just that there has been such mixed reactions to almost everywhere apart from rei.com which dont have my size:confused:
i'm so bothered about spending £100 plus if they aren't going to be genuine!

i ordered my tall chocolates size us8/uk 6 on 23/10 from AD, yesterday 29/10 i had an email from ups to say they had been shipped and to expect them on thursday 1/11 :D :j

i am a bit worried that they might be too big though. i am a uk size 6 and when i tried on some uggs australia in sole trader the size 6 fit best s8 which i thought was equivalent to a uk 6. but when i tried on some emu ugg style boots the other day a size 6 was far too big, even with socks on, and size 5 was much better :eek:

edit: update - just checked my credit card statement and i have been charged £104.31 from AD
26 Oct 2007 All Things Australian FOOTSCRAY £104.31
it's a shame taylorshoes didn't have my size in stock as they were only £90 :(

You should be OK with a US8 in UGGs as I am a UK6 and my UGGs are a US8 and fit like a glove. I also have a pair of UK6 emus and they are much bigger than my UGGs - there's no comparison with the fit and comfort, my UGGs are much more comfortable and fit much better. The emus are so heavy and clompy!! I got my emus first and once I tried my new UGGs on I wished I'd just bought UGGs and not bothered with the emus.

that sounds like good news then! i didn't like the emus either, they seemed big and clompy. i was hoping my uggs weren't going to be the same as i couldn't remember what the ones i tried on in sole trader were like, other than that a size 6 fitted me.

You'll definately LOVE your UGGs, I just don't want to take them off my feet!!:j . They are so warm an snuggely and just mould to your feet. They are so light too, you just don't feel like you've got boots on, it just feels like you've got slippers on!! :o

Enjoy your UGGs when they arrive. I can't wait for my black ones to arrive this week:T .
