If you want a bit more substance then I would suggest you sign up to Noddle, which is also free but not so pretty-looking.
Clearscore is, however, rather better at explaining what are good factors and bad factors on your report; Noddle charges for this kind of info in the form of its "Improve" bolt-on.Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

I agree, I have Noddle too and it seems more useful. I just wanted to check more than one CRA this time to see if I needed to dispute anything with Vodafone.
Why provide a service if you aren't going to do it right? Ugh. :mad:0 -

I'm using Clearscore and I hadn't had any problems with it, but coming across this thread has made me seen that it's worth having Noddle as well, so I have just joined that. I think this is a great Thread and I have found it really useful and informative.Debt Free Stage 1 - Completed 27/08/2020

If the website looks attractive, it will help achieve its aims without having any interest in providing a reliable service.
In the long run, it will be found out and will be disregarded by those in the know. Clearscore will, doubtless, survive because, when it comes to finance, the vast majority are not in the know.Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

Avoid ClearScore - free but useless, as is their support. Their credit scoring for me showed a huge difference to Noddle and was decreasing since Nov 2015, plus less than average for my area. Did not reflect my really excellent credit worthiness at all. My son who lives with me has scored more in the same period yet has never had any loans, mortgages or creditcards. My financial data going back more than 40 years is impeccable. Challenged this with both ClearScore and Equifax (from whom they gain their data) since I was due to remortgage. Equifax bounced me to ClearScore and ClearScore the opposite over and over. All info I received from ClearScore merely regurgitated stuff I had already read on their website or knew, but did not answer the crucial question as to why they were scoring me so very low. I was comparing them with Noddle having been signed up through TalkTalk as recompense for having had my account hacked. Was worried that maybe Equifax who supplied their data had something on me which was wholly incorrect and could affect my remortgage. Frustrated I eventually signed up to CheckMyFile on a months trial. This confirmed that my scoring was very high indeed with all 3 main credit agencies. Relief - but having conveyed this to ClearScore in full detail they have simply decided to stop responding to my emails. Wrote to Equifax a final time today and await their response which will now hopefully be different to a restated 'go to ClearScore because we cannot comment upon their scoring'. Yet Equifax not only provide data to them but also power ClearScore's website... Seems to me ClearScore is just a shop window for pushing financial products - my advice is to stay clear of ClearScore ...0

That's exactly what Clearscore is.
The so-called "scores" from the likes of Clearscore, Noddle, and the CRAs: Equifax, Experian & Callcredit are entirely immaterial. In fact they are virtually meaningless.
The main thing to check is for unexpected changes and any searches which you can find no reason for. Use these companies only as an alarm system.
Scoring, in any meaningful sense, is only done by lenders and the best anyone else can do is to guess what a lender might score you. Clearscore's guess is of no consequence whatsoever to anyone but themselves.
Clearly, disregard any "recommendations" they make for financial products. You're probably better off using MSE's eligibility checker if you're really looking for credit.Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

Thank you Consumerist,
I agree whole heartedly that scoring is largely irrelevant and would urge people to avoid ClearScore using CheckMyFile instead, purely to ensure that the data held on them is correct, or amended as proves necessary. As I go to cancel my CheckMyFile subscription today, having enjoyed a months free trial which put my own mind at rest, I noted the following online: ClearScore have finally increased my score to 471/700, yet this is significantly below that of my son living with me, who hasn't any credit worthy data of note; meanwhile all 4 credit agencies under CheckMyFile record me at 917/1000, deemed exceptionally good! The important thing is that I have checked my data and been reassured it is correct, whilst reading MSE, Noddle and ClearScore prompted me to take out a credit card last November simply to improve my credit rating in good time for a June remortgage - which is now going through as planned. I would hate to think of anyone else wasting their time with ClearScore, being misled, and with proper support lacking, which is why I have reported my experience to The Financial Ombudsman, making it clear that my case is far from unique. I await their response with interest.0 -
I've checked my report today and there appears to be a current account in someone else's name linked to my credit file - how do I get this removed? I don't think it's fraud, but just been allocated to the wrong credit file.0
