No one can verify me??? Help!

Hi, I'm trying to apply for a credit card but as my last post ended, I'm having real problems having myself verified by anyone. Now I've been verified by experian but only after they sent out a pin but callcredit and equifax have not been able to verify me and callcredit basically say well tough luck maybe another day. Now I've had this from the euromillions to applying for a credit card. No one can find/verify me. I currently live with my parents so have no bills in my name and have been on the electoral roll since 2013. I have a phone contract which is under my dads name but that will change but not until mid next year. I have a provisional license and a rbs bank account. Why can't no one find me? And if you know why then how can I make myself appear and effectively become a real boy :) It's getting really frustrating so any help would be massively appreciated.

How old are you? If you've just turned 18 you won't have a credit history yet. What kind of bank account do you have? Is it just a basic account or a current account (which you can only get when 18+).

My best bet is to open a current account if you don't already have one and when you can get a mobile contract in your name.

I don't know what you mean by 'my last post ended'. You don't need to look at your credit files to apply for a credit card - but if you've little credit history it's doubtful you will get a credit card, or you'll get a credit builder card with a horrendous interest rate and low limit.

Hi, thanks for replying. I'm almost 20 and have an rbs select account. Not sure if that's a current account. But I've even checked rbs for my eligibility for one of there cards and even they said they couldn't find me which I thought was a total joke as I've been with them for over 5 years now. But even those credit building cards have turned me down because they can't find me plus I exceed there requirements by quite abit. And the last post stuff was another thread about which cards were best suited but that quickly ended in the fact that I don't technically exist.
  • Have you applied for any cards?

You need to go to a branch, RBS your local one.

    If they say no appeal.

Hi, I've applied for a barclaycard and an aquacard. Both I should have technically got. When I got on experian there were no checks from them so no reason for why I was turned down except I'm invisible :( So your saying that's the best option for me? Go into an rbs branch? Though all there cards except the student one have a requirement of over £10,000 and I'm under that at the moment. Around £7500 and I'm also studying but don't technically qualify for there student card. Do you think they'll have a card for me?

Just because you meet the requirements of what the credit card company says they want, doesn't mean you're guaranteed to get it. I applied for a Virgin card recently, I surpassed minimum income by 10k and still got rejected.

I don't know why you think you're invisible, I don't really know what you mean by that. You just may not have as much credit history as lenders would like to make a judgement on whether to lend you money or not.

An RBS Select Account counts as a current account, you can get an overdraft on that account if requested (and approved).

To be honest earning only 7.5k you aren't likely to get many credit card companies offering you a card

Sign on with Noddle.co.uk , which is free, for a second opinion.

If your Electoral Registration doesn't show up, that would make sense, in terms of you are invisible.

A utility bill will help when you apply for things.

They usually want you to manage your bills online, to save them money. Unfortunately, some lenders want ORIGINAL statements, so don't tick the paperless box. Water statement should appear every six months. I recently asked for a change of name on the account, and Thames Water just says it will appear on the next statement, and didn't send out an interim one, so plan ahead.

I nursed my credit limit from £100 in my student days, through £400 on the John Lewis store card, to £10k+ these days. I suspect it's like dating, once you had one date, and don't look so desperate, they start warming up to you. :)

Is there a specific reason you are waiting until next year to change the mobile phone contract over?

My son's all had mobile phones in my name until they were 18 years old but then I just changed ownership mid-contract. One son failed the credit check the first time as we hadn't completed his registration on the ER but as soon as we did that and reapplied 6 months later, he passed and was able to take the contract over.

    So that's one reason
and have been on the electoral roll since 2013.
Does this show up on your credit reports that you've searched?
I have a phone contract which is under my dads name
So you don't have a contract - your dad does and he lets you use the phone.
    I have a provisional license
    Irrelevant for a credit history.
    and a rbs bank account.
Is this on your credit report? Maybe if there is no credit facility it wouldn't be reported to the CRAs - ask your bank.
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

So I have a passport, provisional license, rbs bank account (also on experian) and as of today an ISA plus I've been on the electoral roll since 2013 which shows up on my erxperian report. Now I pay for the contract but it's under my dad's name and since they have to do a credit check and can't find me then I'm not going to show up. So ill have to wait until that's up and try go for a new contract. RBS are stumped as to why I'm not visible to anyone. They said I can get a credit card but not until I've got over £10,000 p.a. They also said to contact the council to make sure everything's fine which they have said it is and that I'm registered here at my address. So really there is no reason for me not to have an identity. Anything you guys have that can help me out with getting on the map as this whole ID stuff is so annoying. Any cards I'm guaranteed of getting or ways to get my identity 100% verified at my address???

I have the opposite problem – callcredit and Equifax have no trouble verifying me but Experian seem to struggle with my address as it’s a flat. Doesn’t seem to create any problems for any postcode to address converters with any one else – just Experian. Problem is most lenders/banks/credit card companies use Experian.
