Thanks. Her hips/knees are fine - those were Xrayed in addition to the spine MRI. It is the spine that is a problem.

Would golden paste help for the spine?

I feel awful for her, really awful.

If she was "an old dog" mentally that would be a different story but she is so full of "mental" energy that it is totally heartbreaking.

I was told an operation is not an option. Also that stem cell therapy would not help for the spine but...I will loo into stem cell therapy anyway. I know it gives great results with hips/joints but never looked into it from the spine angle so will do this now and perhaps...

    :(

I only mention the hips as in, have you tried her on the golden paste before for her hip dysplasia?

It should help the spine, it helps inflammation in any area of the body. There are quite a few people on the Turmeric User Group who use it for slipped/compressed discs, osteoarthritis etc. It won't fix a spinal issue, but will reduce swelling which should alleviate discomfort.

Krlyr - thanks , Zara had total hip replacement on both hips so her hips are fine, so are her knees. All the current issues are caused by spine :(

Yes, she had the golden paste for quite a while but it did not seem to make any difference I am afraid..

She is booked to the vet in Feltham to have her tooth removed this Friday morning, I am going there after work on Friday and will stay till Saturday evening with her then home to East London from there to see the cats for 24 hours and back to Reading early morning on Monday .I now rent a room Mon-Fri in Reading as currently work here, all that travel I feel like I live in a suitcase but whatever needs to be done gets done...

Does anyone know where can I buy Carniking L-carnitine in UK please?

Vet's prices are diabolical to pay when Zara is on 3 different tablets (one of the very expensive Apoquel) so need to find a cheaper online supplier for this if possible at all?

    Thanks a lot

Can you contact the makers direct and ask them if they will ship the product to you, getting ready? I have been looking online ,but I am sure you won't have missed anything so it does look sadly as if it is going to be very difficult to source here.

I know you have been to Noel Fitzpatrick before and know how good he is.He has done some amazing work on dog's spines. Is there any chance he could help,or have you already looked into this?

It is Noel we have seen on Monday - and nope, he said he would not operate on Zara after doing and seeing the MRI :(

He suggested the injections, she had first one on MOnday and 2 more to go... finger crossed it will help. Can not be fixed surgically, we are talking maintenance rather than cure I am afraid.

I am so sorry that you are having so much worry and heartache over such a beautiful dog.

At least you know you are doing the very best for her, there can't be many better than Noel.I just hope the drugs and time will get her to a stage where she is comfortable, even if the problem can't be cured. xx

    Thank you.

I will be looking as stem cells in November. Friend's dog is having this done this/next week. She already had it done for joints (knees) and all is great, massive improvement. Next spine so will see ow it goes for friend's dog and see if I can do this for Zara.

I may be clutching at staws but...:(

Is there a reason why you need to buy it from the UK - might it be cheaper elsewhere?

Prefer to buy in UK as shipping cost/time of delivery may be too expensive/too long. But if I do not find UK supplier then of course will buy wherever I can - not on ebay and other similar sites though as do not want to get a fake product of course.

You might have better luck searching for Acetyl L-Carnitine. Carniking appears to be a brand manufactured for the animal feed industry. Why is she taking it anyway?
