That's what I am.. exhausted!
tidied up around the house this morning. ran wm 3 times and hung out on the line. Did the weekly shop.
Then we took the bikes and biked 40 (!!) Kilometres!!..
DD1 is starting a new school on monday, and yes it's 20 km's away. She wasn't sure of how to get there so we decided since it was such a nice sunny day, to show her!
little squirt settled herself quite comfortably in the bike trailer, we packed drinks and snacks and off we went! Had a few rest's on the way and we did have a good time. DD3 (aged 9) baffled me! She biked all that way, and didn't complain once! She was SUCH a trooper!
DH and I were both exhausted when we got home, so imagine how a 9 year old would feel! But she was great! Did go to bed without complaining though :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Soo, I'm now having a quite sit down before going off to bed myself.

Cor Becca.. you make me feel like a slob.. last time got on a bike was.. 8 years ago.. and I complained about walking 6 miles yesterday.. mind you it was late (7pm) and I needed the children in bed and we were walking along the beach in the freezing cold..
Hubby said one day we will have a romantic walk along the beach.. I said 'who with?'

michelle, thanks, I knkw you are right and he will grow out of it.
pigpen - thankyou SO SO SO MUCH , if you could have some of my wine and some of the chocolate I am about to scoff I would give you the lot. I knew with your vast brood you would have come across such a problkem at some stage
Its really nice to get some advice from someone in the same situation. Loads of friends have been saying "oh september is miles away", "ohhe'll be fine", "oh there will be other who are the same" etc etc, all of which may be true but its very easy to dish out the advice when you are not going through it. I wash about 10 pairs of trousers/shorts and pants every couple of days for him alone. I;ve bought 4 pairs of school trousers fully expecting him to go throuhg a [air a day, Hope I've bought enough!
Our nightmare dfay is swimming, Amazingly he always gets out of his class halfway having told the teacher he needs to go - why can he not do this rest of the timeI then take him as soon as he gets out befire he gets dried, I take him as we leave the leisure centre, and he still wets in the 5 minute drive home. I suppose he drinks half the pool. Weekends are alsoa nightmare cos hubby isn;t on his case the same 0 he tells him to go but doesnt actulay chase him up as it were,so Ds doeswnt actually bother to go and then wets.
Its good to know they do have structured toilet time IYSWIM, and that its acceptable to point such a thing out to the teacher.
He is still in pullups at night by the way, we are years off being dry at night, DD will be dry at night before him.
Just out of interest what do you do when she wets herself, just ignore it and get on with it ? This is what I want to do but inevitably it means there is more to come and I need him to go to the toilet and finish off, and then he refuses and throws a tantrum, or else just plays in the loo - with the loo roll, the seat, the basin, anything but actually do the wee. If I threaten the step he just ends up on the step and wets himself sitting there so the carpet is wet as well. If I just ignore him he continues to tantrum/play and then wets himself. Any ideas ? Sticker charts/promise ofa toy/xbox time/sweets doesnt work, eg if I say "look, if you go you get a sticker/toy/whatever, do yuwant a sticker/toy/whatever?" he goes "no, I don't".
Sorry everyone I know this isnt a parenting thread!!!
You've made me feel a lot better though pigpen, thanks so much again.

:rotfl: Some things are better left to fantasy believe you me! you are right, there is nothing romantic about finding sand in very strange places! And sand is razor sharp!!
oh sorry, you were talking about WALKING on the beach?... :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Holland is very geared up for biking, I wouldn't take the bike so quickly in the UK either! DANGEROUS!!0 -
Evening all Jill my comments in red concerning what they do in DS3 class:
Specific questions:
1. Will the teachers take/send them all at snack/break time ? oh yes and often at other times as well
2. Should I be sending a spare pair of pants and/or trousers in his bag ?Our class has boxes of spares which the children help themselves too (helped to start with) and plastic bags to put their wet stuff in on their peg to take home
3. Will the teacher change him or does he have to get it himself (oh god just thought of another worry, he is terrible for wandering arpund with his trousers round his ankles and did this at nursery as well. !!!!!! what if he does it at school) stop worrying. They have dealt with this heaps of time. They will help to start with but encourage independance ie will show him where the stuff is and help to start with
4. IOf he wets himself and it shows will the other kids make fun of him ? kids are cruel about lots of things in life - who can say but if they do it may make him stop doing it? I doubt most will be interested
5. We have told him he isnt having juice cos it makes him wet himself - if he tells the other kids this will they make fun of him ? I doubt it will come up inconversation - what do you mean by him not having juice - do you mean at home or school? I would not deny a child drinks at school in case they wet themselves being hydrated is much more important
6. If he wets and it smells and he doesnt tell the teacher and just sits in it, will the other kids make fun of him (can you see the theme here of what is really worrying me). I don't think they will notice - do stop worrying
In January he starts full time and will need to go at least twice in the day if not more. Worry about January in January! Going at least twice a day is not a problem - do you know the class set up - in our infant classes there are toilets in the same area by the cloakroom, they often don't even have to ask. In our class if they need to go whilst he teacher is talking they make a T shape with 2 fingers and the teacher nods - DS3 insisted we did this at home everytime he needed to go to start with which drove me senseless as I would say ok and he was go balistic and say don't say ok just nod!The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Becca, wow, I am impressed. We keep saying we'll take the boys on a bike ride, I haven't been on mine for 7 years, it's only been used 3 times, downside is we were going to go somewhere quiet (so I could fall off with noone seeing me) for me to practise before taking them. My DS1 (8 buthas Autism and can't 'do' bikes, actually he's petrified of them) has a trailer now which we also need to practise using, DS2 still needs to imrove on his bike too. Suppose thats another problem we have, here it's all hills!
JillD with the wetting, my oldest is 8 now and only been dry completely day time (he may have another episode and has some night time accidents) for 6 months. Youngest is 6 and still has accidents. School are great with them and he has less accidents at school than he does at home. STOP WORRYING! I think basically with problem toileters, you can try to encourage, keep a diary of when they go/have drinks etc to encourage/make them go when you estimate they will need it, make them run around starkers to save on laundry :rotfl: had to mention as a friend does this, cut back the evening drinks etc but really a lot of it will just come when he's ready... School will have spares usually but you can ask, my son did come home in girls undies and bright red shorts (was snowing) so I started leaving spares, they'd used all there rest for kids who'd got wet from snow etc I think.
Pigpen, sorry to hear they played up a bit, hope there was still some good times
Well I've done some things, DP popped in from work for a 'little bit' which sort of interupted me sorting the bedroom out, I did get lots of laundry sorted out and put away, kitchens still a bit of a bomb site, boys played up before bed inc DS2 ending up bleeding everywhere after smacking himself in the face with something I told him to put down! I did however once they calmed down get them to take some of the laundry upstairssaved my back a bit, also DS2 when asked put all the train tracks away (wanted to earn points!)
Overall not a bad day, done less than I should but more than I used to if that makes sense :rotfl:
Right off for a mooch then bed I thinkOne day I might be more organised...........

lil_me and Dustykitten - ok ok I will stop worrying!!! Its just of all my friends with kids his age - and I have lots - having no family here I enrolled on a lot of antenatal classes when I was expecting him LOL - none of their kids are anywhere near as bad. You have all made me feel heaps better that its pretty normal, so thanks vvvv much
I give him a very hard time about it, so I think I better ease up for all our sakes anyway.

 I bet not all of them are honest as to how well their kids are doing either, know a few parents who'll say 'oh he's been dry for ages' then their older brother or someone else like Grandma will say 'oh he's always having accidents' competative mothers, nothing quite like it!!
Every kids different, they can't read these fancy 'your child should sit by, eat this by, walk on his head by..' etc books definately not down to parenting, my neice was toilet trained and dry at night under 18 months, my nephew is 4 and still has accidents. I would ease off a little, might be why he's reacting so strongly when you try to encourage him, then see how it goes, if you are relaxed he will be.Pleased to hear you're going to stop worrying, not good for blood pressure.
Oh all this wetting has reminded me, DS2 wet again last night and his sheets are in washer just finished, so I best get them and drape them somewhere, hang them out in the morning.
Right off to do that then bedtime, I'm shattered, see you in the morning everyoneOne day I might be more organised...........
