When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free!

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending!

So be proud of those small steps, they really important! :money:

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
Determined and CCL - I now have that scene from Father Ted where Mrs Doyle and her friend go out for tea and both want to pay, stuck in my head. Do I post on Determined thread or CCL's? :rotfl:

  • Morning all, hope everyone enjoyed the weekend even with the iffy weather. Personally I don't mind a grey wknd as its an excuse to potter about the house and relax, always feel like I have to do something or should go somewhere when its sunny.

Only 2 weeks to uni induction so need to be productive.

    Todays list:

    * Set up ynab - got license over wknd so looking forward to this, sad I know! :o

    * Shredding some of paper mountain - am really making headway with this.

    * bread in breadmaker.

    * chase college about access course certificate that got lost in post  typical.

    *pay rent

    * send parcel

Good luck on your first day back CCL and hope the informal interview goes well Determined.

    Morning all
Thanks for starting us off CCL and DNMS, (and to Fermi for merging the threads :))

Up nearly all night with the puppy again, and ended up sleeping with him on the sofa. Weirdly, he is happily asleep in his own bed now. As I am looking after baby GD tomorrow (first time for 6 weeks and she has now entered the terrible twos ) I am going to sleep downstairs tonight in an effort to get SOME sleep. The sofa is actually a sofa bed, and I need to work out how to convert it from one to the other. It is a complicated sprung thing, so you can't just pull it out, but at least it should be comfortable. I have had dogs / puppies since birth, and never remember such a problem with nights. He literally screams all night. I can't sleep, am concerned about keeping the neighbours awake and hate the thought of him being so distressed :(

Oh well, at least the weather looks as though it may be better today. Modest list:

Porridge for breakfast with a spoonful of stewed apple and yogurt (yum)
Shopping delivery between 10-11 Done, glad of this as I could NOT face the supermarket today!!
Work out how to convert sofa into bed and vice versa Hmm not looked at this yet - OH said he will help
Pick tomatoes (there are LOADS - I will need the washing up bowl as other containers aren't large enough  Filled a large preserving pan :)
Quick clear up later so it is clean for baby GD tomorrow (she will soon wreck that, but that isn't the point :rotfl:) Done
Make some scones (well, they are quicker and easier than cake, and low in sugar and fat, if not plastered with butter and jam!) Done
HM meals from meal plan :A (better remember to get that fish out of the freezer!) Done, stuck to plan!
Pop to sales unit later to tidy up Done, good month in August :D
Any surveys that are available Done a couple for Onepoll
    Postal survey tasks
Sort out mess of cleaning products under sink and try to use some up :oDone, used up the rest of a nearly empty kitchen spray and dishwasher rinse stuff - empty containers are now in the recycling and I can close the cupboard door properly :T
Buy descaler and cheap foil freezer containers from pound shop Done
Descale shower head and investigate the water softener thingy as it shouldn't have got furred up in the first place! Not done this yet :o

Load of washing done and dried on the line between showers :T

Picked 3 courgettes (1 had aspirations to be a marrow ) and a cucumber :)

I think that is everything. If not, I will pop back later and update.
Hope everyone has a nice day - I am off for a quick shower to wake myself up!

PS, hope the meeting / informal interview goes well DNMS, and good luck on your first day back CCL. Am I right in thinking you teach? I used to years ago, and DD2 is a teacher back this week (she works in FE). I don't envy you now -I loved it then, but things have not improved during the intervening years :(

    * check onepoll & for ms ops. Might sign up for another company...

How about i-Say, formerly called Ipsos. Around ten long surveys gets you a £10 voucher. Reputable company; second largest survey company in the UK. (Link)

Or check out the survey links in post #12 below.
